The staff at Sunrise of East Brunswick are caring and respectful of my loved one and our family. We know that our loved one is safe, cared for and respected, and we rest easy knowing that the staff of Sunrise are there for her. The facilities are well maintained and the offerings for residents are expanding. The staff are all approachable and are open to suggestions from community members and their families.

I would give the a minus 10. They lie about the service they provide you. They charge you without providing any services. When I moved him to Sunrise, I was informed that an apartment there would be $5850.00 a month and would include basic care, like helping in a shower or getting ready for the day.. They informed me that since he came over from a rehab center and is still weak and needs assistance with the bathroom and taking a shower, he will be put on the Assisted Living Plus, Plus plan. It was an extra $139.00 a day. It would be re-evaluated every month and removed when he was able to do things on his own and that someone was assigned to him until then. He was now being billed $12,000 a month, Instead of the $5850,00 a month plus $41.00 a day for his medications. My father was receiving PT and OT from Fox Physical Rehabilitation. In June, they informed the director Lisa that my father was independent and did not need the Plus Plus any longer. It went in one ear and out the other. But, he didn;t have anyone assigned to him any longer. They were even charging my father Incontinence Service level 1 at $9.00 a day. My father stopped wearing diapers at the end of May. I fought with them for 2 months to stop charging us that fee. Finally on August 1, 2024 they stopped charging us for the Incontinence service, but raised our med level service from Med 2 to Med 3, Charging us $11.00 a day more to offset the loss of the Incontinence fee, and nothing changed with his medication. I fought with them for a year and no one could tell us why they raised the Med Plan. Finally a new nursing supervisor took over and reviewed everyone's file and called to inform me my father was over billed for his med service for over a year and would try to get me credit.Michele the Executive Director of Sunrise of East Brunswick admitted that there was wrong doing on their part and offered me $20,000.00 credit to stay with them. I told her no as they stole over $90,000.00. She said she would have to bring to the next level higher than her as she was only authorized to give $20,000.00. The higher ups denied it and I moved my father to Reformed Church Assisted Living when he was evau;lated by the medical staff and found to be totally independent. I spoke to the medical staff at Sunrise and was informed they were never asked to participate in any of my father's evaluations when it is policy. So no medical staff determined his care. They billed him without providing any services. A District Director even had showed up to Reformed Church asking questions about my dad and Reform Church refused to comment. Bring you loved one there at your own risk

What a difference a year makes. After a few months passed for my family members, Sunrise of East Brunswick quickly became a constant disappointment. Communication was terrible — leadership almost never returned calls unless it was about billing. My aunt’s requests for help were ignored, and basic maintenance like fixing a heater and light dragged on for nearly four months until I escalated it to the organization's CEO. Their handling of the transition out of the facility was equally unprofessional. Records weren’t sent on time, communication was nonexistent, and staff couldn’t even offer a simple goodbye. Only Robert - one of the their nurses that cared for my family members - showed any professionalism or compassion during the entire process. I strongly advise families looking for care for a family member to consider other options.

Every time I visit my grandmother I thank God for the amazing staff and facilities at Sunrise. She is so well taken care of and the food is well prepared, the facilities are so clean, and she is very happy. Thank you to everyone at Sunrise. You are a blessing!

My mother spent the last 10 years of her life at Sunrise. I always felt the staff had her best interests at heart. When the time came to move my mother into the reminiscence section, Michelle, the executive director, gave me the opportunity to move her into a room with a window view. At the end of my mother's life the staff were very caring and attentive. I always speak highly of this facility. It is not an easy decision to place a beloved family member into this setting. Everyone was wonderful in making the transition as easy as possible.
