SUNRISE ASSISTED LIVING OF WESTFIELD (NJ90144)

My mom was at Sunrise for three years. During that time, she received great care from many caregivers, but the most compassionate and dedicated to my mom was Silvia. She became like family to my mom and truly made a difference in her life. We are ever grateful that, with Silvia's help ,mom made it to 100 years of age. Shortly after her 100th birthday mom declined rapidly. The whole staff at Sunrise was amazing and caring and really helped our family at a difficult time. She lasted 5 days on hospice which we were able to have right in the beautiful Sunrise facility that had become her "home". Staff members tearfully came to her room to say goodbye. We were touched by their empathy. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Sunrise.

My 94-year-old father moved into the Reminiscence (Memory Care) neighborhood at Sunrise of Westfield a year ago, and I could not be happier with our decision. Before choosing Sunrise, we toured 10 different assisted living facilities in the area. While there are many newer options within 25 minutes of me, I chose the Sunrise of Westfield for one very important reason: The Staff. Sunrise of Westfield has, by far, the most experienced staff of all the facilities we visited. Many team members have worked there for years (some for 5 to 10 to 20 years), and it shows. The staff is compassionate, cheerful, attentive, knowledgeable, and deeply dedicated. From the moment I walk in the door, everyone is warm and welcoming. Most importantly, my father is truly happy and thriving there in every way. The Reminiscence Manager, Kerry Ann, is exceptional. She knows everything that is going on in the neighborhood, and her team is extremely well trained and works seamlessly together. Every caregiver in Memory Care is truly special. They are attentive while also engaging my father with warmth and humor, treating him like a family member. I have had a positive experience with Every Single caregiver. Many have worked there for years and clearly pass along their strong work ethic to new team members. There is great consistency of care. The nursing staff, led by Patricia, is equally outstanding. Whenever I have a question, a nurse responds promptly, and the system Patricia has in place is extremely organized. The medical technicians are diligent and attentive as well. I am also very impressed with the medical services available on site. The nurse practitioner is thorough and communicative, and my father is able to see a dentist, eye doctor, dermatologist, and podiatrist without ever leaving Sunrise. Every staff member I encounter—from the front desk to activity, kitchen, housekeeping, and maintenance—shares the same positive, helpful, and cheerful attitude. Sunrise of Westfield is an amazing community, and I am deeply grateful that my father is cared for there. I highly recommend this community!

Our Mom is in the memory unit and I cannot say enough about how happy we are with the care she’s receiving. I’m a retired nurse, and her health care proxy, so I’m somewhat on top of things and I can wholeheartedly attest to how conscientious and caring the entire organization is. The hands-on care that she receives comes from a place of warmth and genuine caring. The Manager, Kerry Ann, has been there for a few years and she improved an already great care model. She helps us and advises us on all things and we trust her implicitly. She runs a tight ship I’d imagine, as the entire unit is immaculate, no matter the time of day we visit. Our mom’s apartment is clean and tidy, she is dressed and has make up on, and she is participating in activities. The staff is incredible, all of them. Lawanda has been a primary care provider to her and she feels like family to us. Mom adores her and we see how that love is authentically retuned to her. Our Mom is safe, happy, loved and well-cared for. A decade of worry and searching for a solution to a difficult situation, has a happy and optimal solution for this family. We couldn’t be more pleased. Kudos to all those who work hard every day to earn this glowing review. You deserve it. I AM ADDING A SHOUT OUT TO MOM’S MAIN CAREGIVER FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, JENNIFER! I was remiss to not specifically mention her and her warm, gentle, caring approach with her residents (SO patient!) She exemplifies the best in senior care with a focus on memory challenged seniors. My mom has been a resident of Sunrise of Westfield for 2 1/2 years. She went there kicking and screaming and now would never want to leave. The wonderful people who work there and live there are like a family. They truly get to know each other and look out for each other. It is a real community. A special shout out to Patricia Williams who runs the nursing care program. Patty is a truly kind and compassionate person and a consummate professional. I have found that there is nothing she cannot handle. She is responsive to all concerns and questions, not only of the residents, but also their families. We rest easy knowing that Patty is on the case and overseeing the care of my mom. I must say that everyone is outstanding at Sunrise, from the folks in housekeeping, to the personnel in food service, to the front desk, to the care aides and the nursing staff. They really get to know each resident well and they truly care about their happiness and well being. It is also a lovely group of people who have chosen Sunrise as their home. My mom was immediately welcomed by the current residents. She found a large group of instant friends. The loneliness and boredom she experienced before Sunrise was replaced by warmth, safety, happiness, fun and companionship. When my mom passed away this week of natural causes, her friends and the Sunrise staff cried as much as our family. It was then that I realized what a truly special place Sunrise is and how loved and cared for my mom was for the past 2 1/2 years. It gave us much solace to know how much she was loved at Sunrise and what a great time she had while she was there. Thank you to all the wonderful, kind and compassionate people who work at Sunrise and made such a difference in my mom’s last years and, by default, mine as well!

My mom moved into Sunrise after a bad fall, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our decision! Every single staff member treated my mother with real care and attention, and with a positive attitude. Always felt that my mother was in good hands, and she enjoyed her time at Sunrise.
