Here’s the bottom line. It’s fine to place your family member here to live, ***but you need to be able to keep in touch and check on them frequently***. I can think of 10 times where I have gone in to bathe my dad because the staff didn’t show up to do it. Today is the 11th time. I used to have to do his laundry but they have gotten better about that recently. Also if you think the health of your parent is declining be sure to get an outside referral as I find the medical staff doesn’t do a great job at catching problems. The staff is pretty good at infection control and keeping everyone vaccinated, so that is a big help.

My mom has been at Sunrise for 8 years. The peace of mind having here at Sunrise has been immeasurable for my siblings & me. The staff is always friendly, caring, & helpful. Covid was a nightmare for everyone including assisted living facilities who lost a lot of staff and had to hire contractors. Thankfully, we made it through. The bottom line is no place is perfect. People who work in this field—-the good ones——are saints.

Where to begin? The minute some of the staff found out we know longer wanted our loved one “vaxxed to the max” was just one huge contention, things seem to change. We were also told since some of us were not vaxxed we could not visit her??? Her room always seemed dirty, the shower drain was loose and not affixed the entire time she lived(5+ years)there and had paint patch stains on the ceiling from a flooding incident. They never returned to repaint. We know our loved one did really care for some of the staff. Many were good to her. Our loved one died on January 15, 2023, after a fall the previous week at Sunrise. We received the phone calls that she had fallen but yet to receive any explanation(s) as to how? We know there were witnesses but nothing. We are suspecting they have cameras in the hallways.
