The memory care is really like a family for residents and their families. The care givers really work as a team and show so much love and support for the residents.

As a healthcare professional who collaborates with senior living communities, I have had the pleasure of working with the team at Sunrise of Livingston, and I can confidently say they provide an exceptional level of care and service. The community is warm, welcoming, and well-managed, with a clear commitment to resident dignity, safety, and quality of life. The staff is attentive, compassionate, and responsive, not only to residents but also to families and outside care professionals. Communication is consistent and collaborative, which is key in ensuring continuity of care. I would also like to recognize Tom Kenney, Director of Sales, for his professionalism and integrity. Tom is knowledgeable, transparent, and genuinely invested in helping families find the right fit for their loved ones. He takes the time to understand each situation and guides families through what can often be a very emotional and complex decision-making process.

I wanted to write this for sometime. My Dad had a fall in the spring that required him to be in acute rehab. Towards the end of that part of his recovery, we were looking for an assisted living location that was close to me. After visiting several facilities we chose Sunrise of Livingston. We were told up front that the pricing was based on a level of care. We knew my Dad was on the higher end of the care spectrum. The old saying, you get what you pay for plays well here. While the monthly pricing was higher, the level of care was spectacular. The team truly works as one to evaluate, align and put into the works a care program that truly enhances the residents overall mental and physical well being. My Dad was socialized quickly and each and every Sunrise team member bent over backwards to ensure he was living his best life at age 99. At his first dinner as a Sunrise resident, his eyes lit up when he was served a small glass of wine. While maybe not a big deal for some, for him it was his first libation since falling in mid-spring. He knew this was the beginning of a great experience at Sunrise. For anyone who has ever stayed at the hospital, it sometimes is a waiting game once you hit the button for help. At Sunrise, it constantly amazed me on how fast the team would arrive in my Dad's room if he needed assistance. I kid you not, 4 minutes on average!! The food, ambiance, and fellow residents made my Dad feel social again. I could on and on here, but unfortunately my Dad passed away a few weeks ago after a very short stay at the hospital. The Sunrise staff attended his funeral mass and you really understood how much they care for their residents. If you have a loved one or are deciding for yourself on a flexible care facility, I would give my most heartfelt recommendation for you to visit Sunrise of Livingston. Thank you Sunrise for taking such wonderful care of my Dad! You gave my brother and I the piece of mind that every family dreams of.

Please think twice before moving your loved one into Sunrise of Livingston. I was deceived by the Executive Director of this Sunrise. Less than two weeks before my mom was scheduled to move in, they nearly doubled the cost of the daily rate. The director explained that this was due to my mom needing more care. Their original rates were “starting at” costs, without care involved. However, the director waited six weeks after my mom was assessed to tell me how much the care would cost. When I asked why I wasn’t told about the cost sooner, the Regional Director of Operations said “Why didn’t you ask about the level of care assessment?” They expected me to know what to ask and when to ask them about it, rather than providing me with the information to make a decision. She said “I have over thirty other residents to worry about. I don’t have time for you.” As a customer and one of the first people to put down a deposit, I was disappointed by the lack of communication and professionalism. The director did not apologize at any point, even when I expressed these concerns. The staff was so nice when I first put down the deposit, and they completely changed their attitude when I questioned the sudden increase in cost. They were very curt with me and hardly wanted to speak. The ordeal caused me, my mother, and my family a great deal of stress. Ultimately, the Livingston Sunrise broke my trust in their care and we decided not to move my mom into this location. I share my experience to warn others to seriously re-consider moving their loved one into this facility.

It is with great enthusiasm and much gratitude that I pen this letter regarding Sunrise of Livingston! Corinne Lucchino guided us on our tour with such impressive knowledge and sincere concern for each of us. Additional staff members were equally friendly and helpful! The chef prepared an awesome lunch and he, himself, assisted in serving his amazing meal. All in all, we have not even one complaint or concern about transitioning to Sunrise of Livingston! Most sincerely, Maureen Capuzzi
