WARNING!!! PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE IN THIS FACILITY !! I am compelled to speak out against the inadequate treatment of residents at Tara Plantation, an assisted living and memory care facility in Carthage, North Carolina, where some of my acquaintances reside. The privately owned facility has been plagued by numerous complaints regarding subpar living conditions, with residents facing inadequate environments. It is essential to highlight that owner Kathy Huffman appears to prioritize personal interests and financial gain over resident well-being. Furthermore, facility director Dominique Stuckey has exhibited behavior that raises concerns about racial bias, consistently seen/heard being disrespectful to the residents and staff. Honestly the overall facility lacks sufficiently trained staff to ensure proper functioning and maintenance. When will this situation be addressed? {wish i could make it ZERO stars}

I have only questioned my mother's care on a couple of occasions, but interestingly, I no longer see the employees I questioned when I visit, so I wonder if they still work here. My mother has been here since April and my experience has been nothing short of spectacular. The aides and other employees here have taken my mother in and given her the best and most proper care that I could ask for. I had concerns for her safety when she first moved in (due to outside forces - not the facility) and they put proper procedures in place immediately per my requests to ensure she remained safe at all costs. I never worry that my mom isn't being cared for here. I visit often and I am always welcomed by the employees. The activities coordinators are unmatched and my mom is always engaged in something fun. I love the people in this place like my family.

don’t bother taking anything to your family member because they won’t have it for long. they have lost or misplaced everything I’ve taken out there for my son. everything from pillows, pillow cases, all of his blankets, even his down to all of his socks. shampoo, deodorant, and soap aren’t safe either. somehow those disappear to. my son has a brain injury and isn’t every vocal so he won’t tell them his belongings are missing. not to mention he went 2 weeks without a shower!! I had to complain just to get them to shower him. would NOT recommend this place

Workers are very unprofessional, housekeeper is downright awful and refuses to deal their job at all or correctly.There are multiple OSHA and healthcare violations in this building. Facility is very dirty. Some things I found were a burnt cigarette in patient communal shower area, bedbugs, roach on walls, urine on floors, worker violence against residents, workers smoking in building, and a general lack of care towards the elderly
