Apprehensive about moving my mom to assisted living in Greensboro, I checked and double checked every fact I could get on Terra Bella Asheboro. UPDATE 2/24/26 After having lived there for several months, the cracks are beginning to show. Small things at first, like promising a room fridge ‘if she’d just move here’, never materialized - so I bought one for mom myself. Most recently, I’ve been informed that at least one nighttime aide brings her three dogs to work, and they run the halls. On one occasion, a bowl of milk was put on top on the dining table for one of the dogs to lap up. Residents were having dinner at the same table and did not welcome this dog at dinner. The woman charged with scheduling doctors appointments doesn’t LIKE to schedule appointments, so she forced mom into an ambulance for a trip to the Emergency Room to be seen for AN EYE INFECTION. I met the ambulance at the ER and was (eventually) met by an irate doctor who said this was unnecessary and was taking time away from emergency patients. My mother was, of course, charged for a trip by ambulance and an ER visit. All because the gal who schedules appointments couldn’t take the time to do that. Now, she has severed my mom’s relationship with her primary care physician, stating it would be best for mom to see the PA who visits TerraBella once a week. When she did finally see the PA because her legs were hurting, the PA never even looked at her legs; she chatted for 3 minutes and excused herself. All these concerns have been brought to the attention of the Resident Director AND the District Director. They won’t even reply to an email to address my concerns. Why haven’t I moved my mom? Because her friends are there. At her age, it is too disruptive to leave the home she shared with my late father, much less change assisted living facilities in the span of less than a year. Have I filed a complaint with the state? You bet — I’m just waiting for them to act. There are major personnel changes that need to be made at TerraBella. Their saving grace is a wonderful Activities Director. He keeps the residents occupied and engaged, and is constantly doing theme decorating for upcoming holidays and events. If you don’t already have a loved one here, please speak to some of the residents outside earshot of the Director. You’ll learn about the theft of money and personal items belonging to residents, and they are dissuaded from filing a police report. It’s just taken as a loss and swept under the rug. You’ll find out about dogs running loose in the halls and dining room. You will find that you, the family member, are expected to make doctors appointments and provide transportation to the appointments. There’s more that you’ll learn if you tour the facility, but you need to speak to current residents. This is the experience I’ve had - your mileage may vary.

Emory and Chloe are absolutely wonderful! The measures they go to make the residents happy and comfortable are phenomenal. Their personalities and the way they connect with the residents on a deeper level is so meaningful. They really care for their residents and love what they do and it shows! These two ladies always bring smiles and laughter making the place feel more like home.

I visit this facility multiple times a week. Each time I visit I find myself desiring to stay longer and have a reason to come back again to the Terrabella community. The staff are so very welcoming, they desire education from the services that my employer and I can provide and communicate effectively that always places the needs of the residents first. The Terrabella community is an excellent addition for the aging population in Asheboro!

Our mother has been at Terra Bella Asheboro for almost two years. She went from living in her home to the hospital to Terra Bella. She had signs of Dementia. I was concerned about how she would handle this move but the staff was amazing in making her comfortable and helping her adjust to her new home. Mom is 97 and her memory is fading but she still knows who we are. The staff is extremely patient and helpful in every way. I highly recommend Terra Bella for any assisted living needs.

My Dad was only at this facility a short time. I wish we could have been there sooner, as this facility was much better than the previous facility where he spent 17 months. The management staff were great, the direct care staff showed interest in learning my Dad’s routine and tried very hard to make his days go well and bring a smile to his face. The staff do a great job of interacting with the residents versus just letting them sit. I would say the food could be better, some bread with the meal would be nice. All in all, if memory care is needed, I would highly recommend this facility. It is well maintained and has a beautiful outdoor space. We were with Dad several hours every day, and I really appreciate the care he received at Terra Bella Asheboro.
