The Cottages at Edgewood

I can’t say enough good things about The Cottages at Edgewood. I have been a caregiver for a dear friend—my college teacher—for the past five years, and dementia and decline are truly no joke. By the time we made the decision to move him into memory care, his needs had become far more than I could safely provide at home, and he was in a dangerous situation on his own. From the moment he arrived, the staff at The Cottages at Edgewood has provided exceptional, compassionate care. They’ve treated my loved one with dignity, patience, and kindness, and I can tell he is genuinely supported—not just managed. Having experienced other facilities in the past, I can say this level of care takes a strong team, and it shows here every day. I understand that families come into memory care carrying a lot of fear, grief, and stress, and it can be hard to separate that pain from the reality of what care looks like for a progressive disease. I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience—but I can say that mine has been exemplary. I am deeply grateful, and I highly recommend The Cottages at Edgewood to anyone facing this difficult transition.

Absolutely terrible care facility. Everything you have ever read about bad care facilities applies here, look elsewhere please. Owners response is BS now Ill give details. They accepted my loved one for 7k a month, within 6 months they jacked the rate to 9k/mo. They pressured for an automatic checking authorization for my loved ones retirement account. The care was so poor that my loved one would decline, then they would put her on hospice care which comes from a different company. That company would give daily baths and good care and my loved one would improve then get taken off hospice, then 3 months later on hospice again. This all happened during covid, no visitors allowed, but when my loved one was assaulted by other residents multiple times, then they call you to take them to the ER. The only values the owner of the cottages has is increasing their bank account. Solyent Green comes to mind whenever I think of this place.

This place should be closed down. From top management down to the caregivers, there is not anyone who cares about the residents and their dignity. The care they guaranteed to provide and they were paid for was not provided. Residents don’t get help with hygiene; no teeth brushing, face washing or keeping hair cleaned and combed. They say they provide showers but they don’t. They let the residents sleep through meals and then hand them a bag of chips when they wake up hungry. Caregivers steal the residents’ personal belongings. When you talk to management they say “they are working on it”. NOBODY HERE CARES ABOUT THESE VERY VULNERABLE RESIDENTS. When a resident had a suspected stroke on a Saturday the physician said he could not see her until the next Thursday. They say they try to call family members but that is a lie. They simply do not care about the residents and then lie to your face. Do not put your loved one here.

Would not recommend to place your loved one here. I was there every day for a year and a half. Mom was not wearing her own clothes. Not clean, had to TRY to find someone to help me with washing her face, getting her to the bathroom etc... I could go on and on about how bad this place is. Please find somewhere else 🙏 😔
