THE HOMESTEAD OF GARDEN CITY

My Grandmother has been a resident at Garden City Homestead ALF for several years. I am my Grandmothers only family and I live 7 hours away. We visit her every 3 months for 3-4 days and spend a significant amount of time in the facility. We join her for meals, activities, and often stay overnight with her. We interact a lot with the staff and see "behind the curtain" into the day to day management and care that is provided. The staff at this facility is incredible and there is a culture where residents are treated not only with respect and dignity, but with compassion and love. There is an effort to really get to know the residents and do things that not only keep them as healthy as possible, but also make them happy. The mental health support at that age is so important, especially for someone like my Grandmother who does not have frequent visitors or other connections. Things like making sure new residents get seated for meals with other residents who are likely to make a connection with them, or encouraging them to come out and participate in activities, or even planning things targeted at the residents interests can make a huge difference. I frequently witness staff engaging with the residents and talking with them about their interests and just showing them that someone cares and is listening and is interested in them. I would like to think that every facility provides this level of care and love and support to the residents, but I have been in enough other facilities to know that is not the case. They are doing incredible work at Garden City Homestead ALF and I can only hope when my time comes I will be so lucky to have that kind of care. I highly recommend this facility.

My bestie Sujey works there she’s the best at her job! She always had fun with her residents I just know they love to have her there, and I’m not just saying it because she’s my best friend!

This is one of the best places ever, especially the CNA by the name of Maribelle Cardenas Carr, she’s so loving and caring for the patients. It’s unbelievable how loving she is to this patient. She treats them as if they were her own family.

My mother was just shy of living there for 8yrs, we have seen many changes in those years with people coming and going. But I'm very pleased with her care and the facility over all. Kelsey and her staff these last few years have been amazing, the connection and compassion between my mother and the staff over all gave me some peace knowing mom was in the right place.
