THE HOMESTEAD OF LEAWOOD

Think twice about this place. Don't answer call light even if it's time for meds or need to use restroom. Overpriced and poor patient care. And terrible communication. You're ignored.

My family and I moved my grandma into Homestead Estates of Leawood in December 2023 after she was more or less forced out of her previous living facility. To put it nicely, the previous facility made it clear to us that they were no longer able or willing to care for my aging grandma. On my wide search for a new place, I toured many facilities and I still feel so blessed to have found Homestead Estates. I could immediately tell from my first visit with Tina (Director of Nursing) and Madison (Executive Director at the time) that they genuinely cared about their residents and finding my grandma a comfortable place to live. For the first time in my experience with nursing homes, it felt like they saw my grandma as a person and not just a chart. My grandma passed away in March 2024, and I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the end of life care she received. Tina and the nursing staff made her final moments as pleasant and pain free as possible. On top of the care that my grandma received, Tina communicated with us very clearly about my grandma's state throughout her time there, and let us know when her health took a turn for the worse. That clear communication was truly priceless during such a difficult time. In the short 4 months that she lived there, we did have some concerns about the care that my grandma was receiving. When we addressed those issues with Tina and Madison/Luanne, our concerns were taken seriously and prompt action followed, which is the most we could ask for. We were extremely pleased with our experience at Homestead Estates and I wouldn't hesitate to put any of my loved ones there if needed. I cannot say enough good things about Tina- finding someone with such compassion and empathy seems to be rare in this field, and I believe that she instills those same values in the rest of the nursing staff. Bonus: Chef Dylan is excellent! The meals that I had with my grandma were delicious!!!

Homestead Estates in Leawood has been a terrific home for my parents since 2022. The staff are attentive and passionate, and particularly shined recently when my mother (now deceased) was undergoing hospice care in their apartment. I was impressed with the way the staff doted on my mom and dad during the period of hospice care -- and how they've gone out of their way to help my dad in this transitional time. My dad really likes the food and the organized activities, and he especially enjoys spending time in the landscaped courtyard garden. Luanne, the Executive Director, and Tina, the Director of Nursing -- along with a really terrific staff -- work tirelessly to make sure the residents are well cared for.

Staff is amazing! They work very hard to provide great care in a supportive and personalized way for each resident. I’m a healthcare provider that visits many facilities and this is a great one! Tina is an amazing nurse and leader- the team here reflects that in caring for each resident like they would their own family. Communication and availability from staff is also above average.

My stepdad has been living at Homestead Estates Assisted Living of Leawood for about 4 months. The nursing staff is very compassionate and very detailed with the care given to the residents. I have appreciated the communication with family and their willingness to address issues quickly.
