Worst & unprofessional management in this facility. Do not understand how the corporate office let's these management people run this facility. My mom has been at this facility since they opened. She has dementia & is ninety years old. I have been informed today that my mom needs to be placed in a nursing home because I have become verbal about issue's going with management. My mom does not bother anybody & should not be put through this, because I speak up on her behalf. I have been harassed by management & my mom has to suffer the consequences. I was informed today by Kim, care cordinator in memory care that her, Jessica(executor director) & hospice coordinator(Korbin) made a decision that my mom needed to be placed in a nursing home, because they were afraid she was gonna be a liability, because of bed sores & that I did not feel like they were taking care of her. I have in the past expressed my concerns with finding mom in her bed soaked in urine. I placed my mom in Heartland Hospice care recently & the nurses expressed to me that when they came to visit mom she was soaked urine. My mom has had bed sores ever since she has been resident. She has a doctor order to use a special cream on mom that heals her sores. The hospice nurses have told me that they brought to management attention about mom being soaked in urine, using the cream everytime she is changed & placed a chart on her wall that she is to be turned every two hours. Kim the care cordinator has a rude attitude when you approach her with concerns & may I say she is never wrong & Jessica the director for the facility does not address any issues within the facility. The CNA'S get paid to take care of these residents & they are not managed by anyone. CNA'S play on their phones, will tell you they do not clean & lots of times you cannot find them. The weekends when no management is around is the worst. Jessica dies not address any concerns or complaints you may have. Kim & I have had numerous confrontations & the last one we had was in Jessica's office, where Kim ran up on me in my face & Jessica sat right there & said nothing. Since this happened I have been harassed by management. Since this facility has opened they have had poor management & no one seems to care. The good reviews you read are mostly by employees. If you keep your mouth shut & do not complain everything is okay, but since I started expressing my complaints management decided my mom needs to be placed somewhere else. Think twice before you place your relative at this facility. They smile & act like they are caring individuals until they get your money. I do not think my mom should have been punished because I stand up for her care. Management there may not know, but they might be doing me a favor. I just think it is unfair for my mom, who suffers from dementia & does not understand, she thinks this is her home & will not understand being placed somewhere else. These employees get paid to take care of these residents & if they were managed by people that cared about these residents that pay a lot to be taken care of. I will not sit back watch this poor behavior by management happen without voicing my opinion. I also posted a review on Facebook. Social Services has had numerous complaints about this facility. Corporate needs to get involved with all the complaints & poor management.

Never bring your family member to this location if you love and care about them, although the facility seems modern and well cared for, the same can not be said about the care that is given to the family members. The majority of the staff are unintelligent, ignorant, and do not possess the basic skill to care for people. They are very disrespectful and defensive if any questions are asked about the family member. I would be very surprised if the staff members are certified, licensed, or even meet the basic qualifications to hold the positions as caregivers. I would challenge the state to review the policies and procedures, the care protocols, and the staff qualifications. There were 3 staff members that I would definitely speak very highly of and do not fit the description of most of the staff at this location. The leadership here is the worst leadership I have ever seen in a professional setting. The director, care coordinators, and administrators are some of the most unprofessional individuals I have ever met. I would not trust these people to manage an animal shelter, let alone a professional memory care/assisted living facility. Be very, very careful in deciding to leave your family member in the care of this facility. Please do your homework on this faciliy. If you do not care about your family members, leave them here, but if you care and want to see your family member happy in their final transition, please choose another facility.

I can only speak to the specifics of the memory care unit and I’ll begin with the positives. The facility is nice and the semi-private rooms actually have privacy (they have a room that shares a bathroom but each bedroom space has a barn door to close). Mom had a dorm size refrigerator and sink in her room (not shared). It also came with a chest of drawers, wingback chair, bed and nightstand. My sister had a difficult time trying to find placement for Mom and while we were thankful she found this facility, that quickly turned into frustration about being limited in her options due to finances. While the facility is nice; because it is new, the care level in the memory care unit is horrible. Mom was there for maybe a year and a half before a fall that broke her hip. We knew with it being a new facility there would be bumps in the road as they got things together. However, it was worse than we ever expected….constant staff turnover, staff stealing from the facility (that statement was from the ED) as well as the residents (we experienced this with Mom’s snacks & other resident’s family members told us they experienced the same), staff stealing from the treat baskets that I would bring in for them to share onsite (saw a staff member with my own eyes take out two hands full as she was going home), and staff constantly hiding instead of interacting with residents. Also, the number of falls due to the staff hiding instead of interacting is extremely high. During the time Mom was there they had two executive directors, three care managers in memory care, two activity directors and countless PCA turnover. We brought issues to the executive director multiple times with no changes as well as complained to the Nash county social service contact we had found. The corporate office had them lay off housekeeping in October or November and didn’t reinstate them until the next year. The PCAs were suppose to clean but I can’t tell you how many times I heard “That’s not my job”. Mom wasn’t bathed daily (we did it once a week during our visit), her clothes weren’t washed, and neither was her bed. My sister and I did everything during our visits. The activity director (when they had one) wasn’t given the time or budget to do things with the residents and was expected in the limited hours they could work to also transport residents. I didn’t keep track of the $ amount of donations we made to the facility but it was several hundred, at minimum. When we brought in all the Christmas decorations, one of the staff members in the lobby asked what it was for. When we told them memory care, they actually told us what a waste to put it there. However when we were decorating, almost all of the residents came in, sang Christmas songs and danced around. They had such a good time and it was a story we related over and over when we complained about the lack of care and interaction from the staff. After Mom’s fall and hospital stay, the ED had recommended a facility she used to work for as a good rehab for Mom. We selected that facility and moved Mom there after the hospital released her. The facility is ran down BUT the staff is soooo much better. My sister talked to them and we moved her there permanently. In the meantime (it’s been approximately 1.5 months) and we still don’t have the refund from The Landings at Rocky Mount Mills. To say that our experience with them has been a frustrating disappointment would be an understatement. While there were a few (less than a handful) of staff that were actually compassionate and caring, our overall experience was extremely disappointing. One of the most awful experiences was being lied to by the care manager about Mom’s fall (even after I told her that the ED called me the day it happened and that wasn’t what she told me). When leadership (from corporate down) accepts stealing, lying, and hiding instead of doing your job as the norm, all the residents and families suffer. I’ve told several people already, and will continue to, do NOT put your loved one here.

This place favors Caucasian residence, the mgmt staff is all Caucasian and will cater to them. My mom was one of the first residence there, the mgmt had 3 turnover supervisors in 4 months. The one there now did not get to know the residence , nor interact with the families at all. Only interested in eating!!! Putting African American residence on memory care side and wanting to keep memory care side 90% Caucasian what a disgrace . They wanted to put my mother on locked up side 1 week after 3rd change of manager and I removed her. Be very careful sending you family members of color.

Nice place.. but unfortunately they are only looking to intake people with the "highest income". Even if the person has Medicaid.. if the monthly dollar amount isn't in a certain range they will not call you back. . It should be first come first served. So much for EQUAL housing opportunities.
