It was amazing how the Lighthouse of Houston had music, food, clowns, and a mechanical bull to start off the Rodeo season for the visionally impaired community to enjoy. My favorite was the snowcones..

I recently had my AT evaluation at Lighthouse of Houston, and it was done by Stephen Johnson. From the moment I got there, the experience was incredible. Stephen was full of life and genuinely happy to be there. His energy was contagious. He was so excited to show me all of the technology and equipment, and that excitement honestly made me excited too. With my condition, it can be tough and pretty discouraging at times, but Stephen completely changed that for me. He brought real joy into the experience and made it feel worth it. His light, his energy, his vibe—everything about how he carries himself made the whole appointment feel positive and uplifting. The entire experience was awesome. I really hope leadership knows that Stephen is doing an amazing job, because he truly makes a difference.

I've called multiple times over several days about the alarm blaring nonstop 24/7 from their unoccupied building next door. Despite repeated complaints to both the business and the police, nothing has been done. For an organization that claims to focus on community outreach, they seem completely uninterested in being a respectful or responsible neighbor. If this is how they handle basic accountability, I’d seriously question the quality of any services they provide.

With a client, I've been trying to get in touch with this store for months. They've never been open when we've called and they've never returned calls (I'm sure they're staffed by volunteers so the schedule is dependent on when the volunteers are available). The client, becoming more desperate, asked me to try again. This time they were open so I dropped what I was doing and drove over. We're looking for a handheld electronic magnifier. The store's selection of products is small. The devices that the clerk showed me were not charged (maybe they don't get much traffic in the store so keeping them charged is not useful). We were able to plug them in so I was able to evaluate them. The clerk was mostly, if not completely, disinterested in helping me. He spent most of his time in the back room looking at his phone instead of telling me about the devices. He said they don't take Medicare and don't offer discounts.
