My father spent more than a year and a half in the memory care ward of The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care, and to say the level of care did not meet our expectations would be an understatement. Personal hygiene services (showering, brushing teeth, etc.) that we were told were available were severely lacking. After several complaints, staff made a showering and room cleaning schedule and posted it in his room, but it was not followed. After more than a year of complaining and doing it myself, the director recommended speaking to his physician and asking for him to be placed on hospice so they would come in and shower him as needed. Several times, I arrived late in the day to find his bed still wet (and left to dry) or soiled from the night before, and more than once had been remade while still wet or soiled. Many times, I would arrive to find him or other residents walking around in heavily soiled, wet, and leaking incontinence products. Doctors orders for daily wearing of compression socks and exercise were not consistently followed, and while we were told that there were daily chair exercises, it was months after he moved in that I learned those were only on the assisted living side of the facility. Food quality was less than ideal, with a lot of processed and starchy foods, and more sodium than he was supposed to have. Staffing was a regular challenge - high turnover and staff calling out, and was a common excuse for the subpar care. After many months of frustration and having to attend to his personal care, hygiene, and room cleaning myself, we moved him out of the facility and into our own home and hired an in-home caregiver where we could ensure consistent quality care. To offer some positive feedback, some of the staff were very caring and worked hard to meet the needs of the residents as best they could with the limited resources and support they had to work with. While we found the level of care to be insufficient in meeting our expectations, we never saw any signs of abuse. The facility also hosted some nice activities (mostly on assisted living side) and family-friendly events around the holidays that were enjoyable. Overall, I would not recommend The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care’s memory care ward to anyone who isn’t willing, able, and prepared to regularly monitor the care and provide a significant level of additional care - either personally or through employing additional caregiving resources such as hospice or private caregivers.

The Lodge is a nice, clean facility with attentive staff and workers. The director, Michelle, is very caring, supportive and helpful and has made our loved one's stay comfortable. We have been very pleased with the care our loved one is getting.

My mother in law moved into the lodge in February. We moved her into this facility from one in Longview. Since she has been here her appetite has increased 10 fold, she is no longer being over medicated like they did to her at the last facility. She is talking better a lot more coherent than the last place. She gets along with the other residents there as well as all employees. Making this move to the lodge was the BEST decision we made. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT THE LODGE

My wife has been a resident of The Lodge in Mount Pleasant, TX for over two years and we are delighted at what we have found there. Michelle Perry, the Director, is experienced, efficient, and truly loves the residents. She has brought together a staff of the highest quality and some of them have told me that they consider their work as life's calling. After some bad experiences at other Memory Care facilities, my family and I are very well pleased with the care our loved one receives. I give The Lodge very high marks and recommend this facility without reservations to any family seeking a Memory Care facility. Dr. Jay Lockhart, Tyler, TX

My Mother was in the Memory Care Unit at the Lodge. As a family, we went through 2 other facilities in the Tyler area and paid TOO MUCH and never received the quality care for my Mother until we found the Lodge. The director, Ms. Perry, is wonderful and hands-on with all the residents. She is educated and experienced with Memory Care and does a wonderful and compassionate job. The Staff is caring and loving to all the residents. I would "pop-in" all times of the day and everyday. I began to know all the people who worked there with my Mother. The director and staff became my extended family/friends. They are the best! Additionally, my Mother loved them, and they loved her! My Mother was happy and comfortable. Her room was a perfect size, and she had personal items/furniture from home to remind her of home. I saw the safety measures implemented by the facility for all residents., which made me feel better. All in all, there is nothing negative to say about the quality of care and attention Ms. Perry and the staff give to each resident. Sadly, after months of my Mother staying at the Lodge, she passed due to the progression of her disease. I was able to be by her side the entire time and the staff cried with me and held me after her passing. I highly recommend The Lodge. They are like family who are gifted and educated to handle the illnesses/diseases in the Memory Care Unit.
