I am a 4 year resident and Most of the review from Renee Bartcher is true. It has really gone down since I moved here is 2016. I do like my apartment but as far as the food goes, when I posted photos of it on my fb page several of my friends get worried and think that I am in the hospital when they see it. I do not say where the food is from when I post it but several of my friends used to live here. The level of communication is pathetic. It is usually done by leaving notes in the doors . The no smoking ordinance is not enforced as there are residents smoking on balconies and apartments. The rent did go up 5% every year and services went down. There was a 2,month notice about the coming changes although I am sure this was planned months ago. When I was given the new rent quote, I was not told that a monthly pet rental fee was being added. This was not mentioned until it was basically too late to find a new place and move by Dec 1 . I have found 2 places that look promising but I will decide over this next year rather than rush into anything. These places are very reasonable , seem to be caring and fully staffed and only charge a one time pet deposit. They are missing personnel in key positions here at this time. I have a 3 star rating because of the apartment

PUBLIC BEWARE. Please do not put your family members in this facility. There are so many items that are just so wrong. It is truly dangerous if you need continuous care. The Meridian currently has two separate types of apartments available. The large portion of apartments are described as Independent Living and the balance of the apartments are Assisted Living apartments. All residents were provided 3 meals a day. However, the chefs that were hired were to say the least totally incompetent. Recently the food had improved but that chef only worked for a short period and then quit taking most of the good staff with him. I have recently spoke to several residents that have shared with me they are not getting enough to eat due to such small portions. IMPORTANT this is an example of how the Meridian treats its residents . Last week all residents that live on the Independent Living areas received a memo on their door stating that major changes were being made. I will only list the major changes. Effective in 60 days no meals will be provided unless you live in Assisted Living. To be honest I do not know what they are doing in Assisted Living. However, in Independent Living all amenities will be suspended. This includes housekeeping, recreational activities, and as the aforementioned meals. In addition residents will have to pay utilities which has not been the case prior. Residents have 60 days to sign a new lease or relocate. The problem with this is that many people can not do their own food shopping or afford to order food in. So why don’t they just move out? Because it is very expensive to move and many residents just don’t have the money . The Meridian did state in this memo that some residents would receive a cut in their rates. The problem is that everyone pays a different rate for the same apartment. I have a friend that pays 2,250/mo for her apartment. She had a 2 BR/2B as I did. I was paying $550 less per month. I lived at the Meridian for over 3 years. My rent went up 5% every year. I saw the writing on the wall and moved out last December. I have also been told they will be leasing apartments deemed low income. This means you could be paying one rent amount and your neighbor could be paying much much less for the same apartment. Another item I would like to share with you is that during the three years that I lived at the Meridian we had five different Directors. Keeping in mind that every time a new Director started the rules would change. This caused problems between the residents and constant confusion. Certainly no way to run a retirement facility where guidelines are very important. The Meridian recently fired the latest Director Bill Redmon. In my opinion and that of many others he was actually doing a good job when you consider all the obstacles he inherited. Do these items I have listed concern you? I truly hope you will consider very carefully before moving in or putting a loved one to live at the Meridian. May God Bless You All.

Wish I could rate it 0 stars. Please DO NOT put anyone that you love & care for in this facility. The staff are slow to relay information, lazy, & really don’t seem to care. My grandfather has been there for close to 3 months in an assisted living suite & I can count on one hand how many times his room has actually been cleaned. There are allegations that they steal from their residents. Last time my family & I went to visit him, an ambulance showed up for only God knows what. I understand we’re living in the time of covid, but they need to allow more than 1 family member to visit because at least we would make sure he was taken care of unlike the people here who are hired to do so. It’s unsettling, frustrating, & infuriating. To spare you & your family heartache, please look for another place.

I recently toured this community and was really wowed by the amenities and the beauty of the whole place. The courtyard with a pool is just lovely and very inviting. The staff seems eager to please and the residents I visited with all said they thoroughly enjoyed living there. One lady in particular told me she had been there 4 years, leaving her 4 bedroom home locate just a few blocks from The Meridian. She doesn't miss the upkeep and the housekeeping; and says she enjoys the food and the activities provided for her.

The Meridian at Kessler Park is one of a kind and such a beautiful community. All the staff are so friendly and seem genuinely joyful to be there. The residents there are happy and have so many activities to do every day. It’s not just a community, it’s a home where you can feel the love.
