THE MISSION AT AGUA FRIA

I went to visit a good friend of mine there. Upon entering a woman at the front desk was very short and rude. Didn’t even make eye contact. I shrugged it off and proceeded to make my way to see my friend. In the main entrance and going towards the hallways, tons of elderly in wheelchairs, just sitting there. There must have been at least 15 or so. The disturbing part is, I looked around for quite some time to see who was possibly tending to these people, and there was not one. A couple of residents who were female, asked if I was a new worker and to please get them Something to eat. I let them know I didn’t work there but I would try and find someone. I asked them where the worker was and if anybody was out there helping people, and one of the women told me it is normal for them to be push into the hallway and just sit there alone in their wheelchairs. I asked if they had A TV room or any entertainment that interacts with them.… And they told me they haven’t in quite some time. That they had someone come in and do activities with them a year back, but that person quit and they never got a replacement? That everyone quits there every few months or so because the employees are treated poorly, over worked, and verbally abuse or they leave because it’s hard for an employee to witness the residents be neglected including not receiving their meds a lot if the times. A male resident then chimed in and pulled his shirt up for me to look at his back.… He said he has sores all over it and he sure did. Some of them were even infected clearly. I felt so horrible. I couldn’t help but give these people a hug. When I started to leave, to hunt someone down for help, they begged me to stop and said they would probably get punishment like no meal or bath because they shared these things with me. I Am truly disgusted with what I encountered there. So much so We are in the works of removing my good friend out of there immediately. I did a little digging myself. There’s been a lot of violations they’ve had in the past huge turnover rate as well. I beg of you do not take your loved one to this facility! Run!!

I know three of the current residents at The Mission at Agua Fria and knew a fourth who has moved out of state since living there. Because of these relationships, I find myself visiting there on a regular basis. The facility always looks clean and well kept and there always seems to be monthly/seasonally appropriate decor and activities offered and promoted for the residents. The receptionists, Pearl and April, are always cheerful and helpful to me when I visit. On a few occasions when I was advocating on behalf of my friends that live there, I met with management at The Mission and was pleased not only with their professionalism, but with their genuine caring attitude towards my friends’ situations. I found them to be very accommodating in helping resolve the situations.

I delivered a package my wife needed and was greeted by April upon entering the building. She introduced me to her coworkers and all were happy as they shared stories and jokes. Looking around, I saw staff and residents engaging in an activity and a staff member assisting gently when putting a resident's hair in a ponytail. It's said actions speak louder than words and I've seen enough to put my loved here with confidence.

I have lived at another facility before this and this is a much better place. The executive director Taryn as well as all the.other front office staff are really easy to talk to. Amanda the activity director is awesome. The food options are excellent I have made many friends. The med techs do their absolute best at being on time as well as the caregivers. The business office manager Sylvia does my hair when she is here and does a really good job at braiding as well as Kathi the activity assistant. I really feel like I have a second family

Nice clean place, friendly staff. My Friend lives here for two years, she likes it. I am amazed by the exceptional care given by med-tech Kelley, When a prescription expired she went above and beyond to get the problem sorted out with the MD, pharmacy and insurance. Crew is always helpful.
