I want to share what I witness but with the pandemic I wasn't able to witness a lot. My mother became a resident in assistant living Sept 2020 . Her health took a turn last Feb. & March. She was in the hospital about three weeks in that time it was evident that she was not going to get better so I had to make the decision to put her in hospice or send her back the Masonic Home and go into comfort care. I choose comfort care thinking that it would be as good a hospice. This was a decision I made after talking to Chris and the social worker. Well let me just say that comfort care is not hospice. There is nobody there to tell you anything the home just treat them like a regular patient. My mother passed away the the night after she came back. I was thinking that comfort care would be keeping a good eye on her and be our side to tell us that the time would be near. Realize I don't see people die everyday. So to have someone that knows what they are doing would have been beneficial. If I had known that the time was near I would have stayed with her. When I got to the home that day she was dressed and they put her in a chair to take her to the dining room. What dying person needs to go to the dining room? Let me just say the communication was not there and it was difficult to leave her anyway. But if someone could have communicated with me what they observed like a real hospice nurse that would have been helpful. So FYI comfort care is not anything like hospice.

I have been a resident for 4 years and have received excellent care, especially with this COVID-19 epidemic. Wonderful staff and a great activities team makes it easy to feel like you’re home.

The Nebraska Masonic Home staff have skillfully and lovingly taken care of my mother for the last year and half. She is so happy in the Special Care Unit. I feel like the people there are her family too. We definitely made the right decision for her when it became obvious she could no longer care for herself safely. Thank you to all who have taken care and continue to care for my mother. You are a blessing! ❤️

Difficult to work with and not compassionate towards the resident's wishes. They are only interested in what the POA that is trying to dispose of a relative wants to do. My Aunt wants to be placed in a nursing home in her home town, not over an hour away from there. My calls to explain this and see how she can be helped were viewed as "harassment". Instead of seeing this as a serious end of life decision for her by removing her from friends and family, they causally said "Oh well she can make new friends". After seeing the response of the Owner I would like to say that my Aunt, after she was placed in the Nebraska Masonic Home was then restricted from seeing any family at all for many weeks. Only her granddaughter was allowed to visit. So in conclusion I stand by my one star review and their statement that "Friends and family are always welcome to visit any time" well.......think again because this was not the case for our family and my Aunt.
