A Deeply Disappointing Experience I am deeply disappointed and concerned by the level of care (or lack thereof) provided at The Retreat in Berryville. Despite being marketed as a memory care facility designed to provide safety, support, and dignity to residents, what I witnessed was the complete opposite. Residents are frequently left unsupervised, which is incredibly dangerous for individuals dealing with memory loss or dementia. Basic hygiene needs are neglected — it is not uncommon to see residents in dirty clothing, with unbrushed hair, or left sitting for extended periods of time without assistance. The facility frequently smells of urine, which speaks to poor sanitation and lack of proper caregiving. The caregiving staff, when present, are often disengaged and more focused on their phones than on the residents they are supposed to be helping. Compassion and attentiveness — qualities that are essential in this line of work — seem to be entirely missing. The management is equally disappointing. Concerns brought to their attention are either brushed off or met with defensiveness. There is a clear lack of accountability and oversight, and it is evident that resident well-being is not the top priority. This facility is failing the very people it claims to protect. If you are considering The Retreat in Berryville for a loved one, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and care, especially in their most vulnerable years. This facility simply does not deliver on that promise.

The Retreat at Berryville was a Godsend. Transitioning your loved one to assisted living can very challenging in many ways. Kendra and the staff did everything to make the transition for my Mom the best that it could be. The communication with family members is outstanding. They are very responsive, kind, patient and caring. We could not have asked for a better assisted living community for my Mom.

Staff, amenities, activities, and food options are amazing. Clean. As a visitor of many times, it’s clear this facility and their staff highly care about their tenants, their health, keeping them engaged, and cleanliness. I can’t remember the specialty chef’s name, but he is amazing. Bingo and card games are challenging though…I consider myself decent, but got whooped. :) Keep up the great work and care! My grandmother is so happy. You guys rock!!
