Perfect place for our mom! We love the smaller size facility to allow her to be more independent. In one of those huge facilities, she would for sure be in a higher level of care because of their shear size! The Retreat is beautiful, very comfortable and homey. Warm and inviting unlike the super modern/cold places. Very content with the Retreat at Sunriver:)

Our Dad made the difficult decision to move our Mom into the memory care section of the Retreat. We can not say enough about the care that was shown, both for our Mom and Dad- as he navigated the difficult end of Alzheimer’s in his partner of 67 years. The staff's kindness and compassion carried our family and helped our Mom retain as much dignity as possible while attending to her health and care needs.

My mom lived at The Retreat at Sun River for the last 3 years of her life. I cannot say enough about this place. The staff was great. Always kind, compassionate, friendly, and really cared about the residents. My mom was very happy there. She liked the food-Jose & Juanita in the kitchen prepared tasty meals, and always stopped to chat. At 96, my mom didn't partake in too many of the activities, but she enjoyed Bingo, and loved the Ice Cream Social on Fridays. The retreat is clean, nicely decorated, and very welcoming. Kim at the front desk was always helpful whenever we needed something faxed or emailed or copied. Nance was always available and helpful when we needed something taken care of medically, as was Andy. Heather is just absolutely amazing, always has a smile on her face, and would go out of her way just to give my mom a hug, and spend time with her. Garrett really helped us out when we needed it. Truly loving and caring staff. Everyone was always nice to us, no matter what we asked or needed. I would not hesitate to recommend the Retreat at Sun River to anyone looking for a nice assisted living facility.

Working in an assisted living facility and especially in memory care is a difficult job to say the least. My mother has been in memory care for over 4 years at The Retreat Sunriver. Since I live in STG I visit numerous times per week. Staff turnover- hey, people burn out. This is hard work and they deal with tough, end of life issues etc, I get it. Their work challenges (patients) do not get better, no problems are “solved”, they are dealt with day after day while watching these great people decline. Though the staff often changes, I’m amazed at is their ability to hire new CNA’s that are genuinely interested in their job and in senior care. I know all of the management here and have always found them to be responsive to my concerns. I can contact anyone one of them and they will respond quickly. (One example would be, so & so does not seem to be well-suited for working in memory care… her personal anxiety is making the residents anxious. Staff changes have been made based on this type of feedback) The CNA coordinator used to be a CNA. She always responds to my texts, in fact she contacted me this am about a routine issue. (It’s her day off...) I actually moved my ALZ afflicted mother all the way from Indiana to be in this facility. I could find decent facilities out there, but none with the quality of staff that I see here. The fees for my mother are less than they would’ve been in Indiana and this facility is nicer and the CNA staff is genuinely kind, that is the one thing I could not find anywhere else. Also the management has not gone “corporate”, they are still local and reachable. On any given day my mother gets a hug from the chef when they bring the meals in, a hug or a song from the activities coordinator, sufficient hygiene, a nice room, caring and patient med techs. Love and attention from the memory care CNA’s. When she was mobile she would enjoy the music and dance with the other residents. It’s tough to not hear your mother speak your name for 4+ years, there are a lot of tough issues in this senior care world, but my mother is treated with dignity and love and my concerns are quickly responded to- what more could I expect? We’ve never regretted our decision to bring her here.

While I have not had the opportunity to have a family member in this facility (or any facility for that matter), I have worked extensively with their nurses, activity leaders, and management. I can tell you, both on the business and care side, that The Retreat at Sunriver is a great place to live. I would love to be able to live there. I often hear the residents say how much the love the food, the activities and the frequent trips outside the facility. The activity directors work hard to have something for everyone, which includes but is not limited to, Bingo, Walking Challenges, Field Trips, Movies, Music, Trivia, Wii games, Carnivals, Family events, and much more. I would feel very comfortable having my family residing in any of their spacious apartments. They are a great place and friends are made very quickly.
