This is the best place ever for my brother Mike, The staff is amazing, and he truly seems to love it here. With me living 6 hours away it gives me great piece of mind to know that he is well taken care of by the community

My mom was a resident at The Pines memory care unit while on hospice. Mom was already experiencing early stages of dementia when she suddenly worsened and was diagnosed with glioblastoma. She stayed at The Pines for about 6 weeks and we were always happy with the care she received. Staff were genuinely concerned for the safety, health, and happiness of all residents. They got to know each resident's personality, history, interests, and family. The staff always made us feel welcome when we took mom out for the day and when we stayed to visit. They helped with every request we had and freely answered all our questions. Especially at the end, the staff coordinated with the hospice nurse to provide comfort medication and supported mom with all the care she needed, plus they shared their knowledge and experience with us to help us through each stage of mom's last days and hours. Many of the caregivers told us funny stories of the crazy shenanigans that mom got up to during her manic sleepless nights, laughed with us, and cried with us. When my sister and I decided to stay with her when she seemed close to death, the staff rushed into action, bringing us mattresses, sheets, blankets, and pillows. When we had extra visitors, they brought chairs. It's important to understand that it's not one-on-one care. Residents walk into each other's rooms and take/share clothes, decor items, etc. But everything can always be found again, the staff always run around and find what you're missing. The staff always address safety and health issues in order of urgency, so some residents will have to wait for attention... but every need is met eventually. When mom's brother and sister-in-law visited and talked with the caregivers, he told his wife to take note that he wants to come to The Pines when it's his time.

When I entered the Pines of Goodrich, I was pleasantly surprised — it didn’t feel like typical assisted living. Everyone was very welcoming, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The facility was very clean, and every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Ruby, who was great at answering all my questions and made me feel truly welcome.

I am the Power of Attorney for both my Mother and my Uncle. I have placed both of them in "The Pines of Goodrich" or "The Ridge of Goodrich" In the memory care side of their establishment. My Uncle has been living there for over 4 years now and my Mother joined them in January. My Uncle is so delighted with his stay there he never wants to go anywhere else! He absolutely loves everything about the place!. He has a wonderful spacious, well lit, clean, room with a great view! The loving, compassionate staff has cared for his changing needs over the years. The director (Ruby) has gone over and above to help him to be able to continue to stay at the Pines and receive any extra care I which he is eligible. My Mother came to the Pines after a second stroke and losing her husband. This was a very stressful, confusing, upsetting, period of time for her. The entire staff worked with her and were very patient, loving, and kind, giving her such good quality of care, emotionally, physically and spiritually! I actually live on the other side of the state and wanted to move her closer to me, but have kept her and my Uncle at the Pines because it is the wisest decision to keep them there. Now let's talk bottom like, compare apples to apples.... The price at the Pines is very reasonable! I live on the other side of the state and the price for care there is much much more. If you compare the Pines price to the price of other places in the Flint, Grand Blanc area you will find they are actually one of the most reasonable priced. They have very large rooms, that they keep very clean and orderly. They also keep the temperature appropriate for the residents. This is important for the elderly. I believe they have taken care of a staffing problem they had in the past. Their staff are so, so caring, patient and nice to the residents. I have seen them work with the confused residents so well, with so much patience and compassion it made me want to cry! It takes a special person to respond and work with these type of people, and they have hired great people on their staff who do a wonderful job with the residents. This is so important to me as you must understand, I have two of my loved one's in their care. The Pines has many different activities for their residents to keep them entertained. Also, they often go over and above in the care of the residents. I was there Friday, as I often visit; they had darkened one side of the grilled cheese sandwich. My mom didn't want to eat it. You wouldn't believe what they did! The staff ordered pizza and breadsticks from Little César's and fed it to the residents. They even offered the pizza and breadsticks to us as visitors! The residents were surprised and tickled! My Uncle who had already ate the grilled cheese sandwich ate the pizza and breadsticks too. He loved it! Everybody loved the impromptu pizza party! This is just one example of how they really do care about every little thing in the care of their residents. It is not just a staff that gets a list of things done, but, their is a group of people who are creating a family environment of caring.
