My husband and I visited Edgewood Summit many times over several years. 2 years ago, we decided this was the place we wanted to live. I thought we should wait a little longer, but my husband insisted we were ready to make the move, so we made an appointment with Cherie Litton. She showed us an apartment that was just want we wanted- size, location, etc. My husband told her we would take it without even looking at me! It turned out that he was right to act quickly. We purchased the apartment but had not moved in yet before my husband had a serious leg injury that required surgery and 6 weeks of skilled nursing care, and required him to be in a wheelchair. After the skilled nursing stay, he required 1 year of physical therapy, both of which were provided at Edgewood Summit. The service here is amazing- I had help with moving in, making changes in our apartment for safety, lab-work in house, and the maintenance and housekeeping departments are wonderful. We had transportation to the doctor’s office in the Edgewood Summit van, which has a wheelchair lift, thankfully, since it was impossible for him to ride in a regular car. Having evening meals prepared after moving here is wonderful, as well, especially during the first month after moving here. We are glad we did not hesitate because dealing with this injury without the help of Edgewood Summit would have been very difficult. We are thankful and happy to be living here.

I have lived here at Edgewood Summit for 6 years. My life is so much simpler now than when I was a homeowner. I do not have to worry about who is going to mow my lawn, fix my broken water pipes or whatever else is broken! We have an excellent staff of repairmen here who are available for all our needs and provide these services with a smile. My housekeeper comes once a week and does light housekeeping which includes changing the bed sheets. We have a nice dining room for dining and a menu for a 5-course dinner, with the choice of 3 entrées. I can stay as busy as I want to or read a book (from our well-stocked library) for as long as I want, the choice is mine. I appreciate the fact that IF I ever have the need for Assisted Living, Memory Care or Skilled Nursing, I have it here at Edgewood Summit. We are one big happy Family here, Staff and Residents. We Residents are blessed to have a caring staff who always have a smile for us. Come up and visit us, I think you will like what you see.

My husband and I moved from Florida to Edgewood Summit 10 months ago. We had attended several marketing events when in Charleston and knew we wanted to move closer to our kids. This has turned out to be everything we had heard and more. One of the real blessings is making new friends…everyone is so nice and the staff members are super accommodating. I can’t say enough about the maintenance free living…yippee!!! There are exercise classes to fit all levels (my husband’s favorite thing) and I love the Art Room where I can work on my scrapbooking.

My dad moved into Edgewood Summit this past summer & couldn't be happier. He is never in his apartment because he is participating in one of the activities offered to the residents. He is especially pleased with the food & dining experience. He says how much he likes living at Edgewood Summit all of the time. On Christmas Day, I called to ask someone to check on him because he wasn't responding to our my calls or texts. His phone was not working, so he was fine. They went to see him quickly & helped him figure out what was wrong with his phone. Cheri helped us transition into Edgewood Summit & has helped us with anything we need since. The systems they have in place have proved to be helpful to us, as well. Our family is happy he is safe & happy!

My Dad moved into Edgewood Summit this past summer, he was not 100% sold about moving but my all of the siblings knew it would help him get his independence back by not having the stress of maintaining his home. We can’t begin to say enough good about Edgewood and the people that work and live there. Having a place to live that offers wonderful activities, great food and service has made all the difference in the world for my Dad. It has also given us peace knowing someone is minutes away should something happen to him. The facility itself is clean and beautiful, it does not feel like a “facility” it feels like a home. Not to leave out the amenities available should he want or need. Dry cleaning pick up & drop off, a barber, balance class 3 days a week, meals delivered to his apartment if he is not up to going to the dining room, but most important the social activities are endless. From the moment we started talking to Cherie her main concern was my Dad and making him feel comfortable. She has a way of making you feel at ease. She was kind and thorough and made sure my Dad (her resident) was clear about process. Thank you for making this a good transition! Happy to be part of the Edgewood family!
