THE WILLIAM ASSISTED LIVING

Our experience with my grandma living within Cottage C has been less than ideal. We've attempted to voice concerns to the Director, but he's always occupied himself rather carelessly in other ways while attempting to speak with him such as by coloring his desk or repeatedly opening and closing his desk drawer. There's the issue of food quality and portions going down. Staff often report that they feel understaffed when only one member is managing the entire building. The WiFi access in the building is near nonexistent due to the one access point that they think is sufficient for the space. There was clearly no pre-planning done on that front with the cheapest solution being what was deployed. Speaking of cheap, while the AC units were out in the dog days of Texas summer, this facility thought it best that they wait several days until they could get quotes from several companies such that they may find the cheapest option to go with (as told to us by the Director). This is abhorrent and a blatant disregard for human health and safety. Things do cost money, yes, but trapping people in low-grade wooden ovens may also be costly too--lives may be lost. I'm glad we'd stopped to visit her, else we would have never known that the AC was down. Had it not been for our rush to get her into a new facility due to her old one closing, I can assure you that we would have never chosen this place.

They take amazing care of my mom who suffers from dementia. I love visiting her there because it's very homey, not too many residents, and the staff help them one on one. I recommend The William to anyone who is in need to memory care for loved one.

The place is always clean. The staff is very friendly. The new director Ventura is very professional and kind. The only thing I have noticed is that there is a large turnover of staff. That leads to not everyone knowing information all the time about my mom. I know that all businesses have Staffing problems. The girls that work in the cottage are always very helpful and friendly.

The William has truly helped to improve the quality of my dad’s life. He moved in a couple of months ago and, as a result, his health has gotten better, he has more people around him to socialize with, and he is generally in much better spirits. Also, it is worth noting that every time I talk to him, he highly praises the food! The William has an amazing care team and is managed very well, and—most importantly—the staff is caring, helpful, and attentive. I would highly recommend the William to anyone.

Recently, San Antonio and most of Texas experienced unprecedented winter weather. Most of us were not prepared for the snow, the cold or all the troubles that followed this historic event. However, I that was NOT the case at the William, and we as a family are particularly grateful for that. Our mother is a resident in the Memory Care Unit. I spoke to her several times and she was in good spirits and assured me she was warm and comfortable. In addition, the staff communicated with us several times via email letting us know that the facility never lost power or water. The residents continued to receive their medication, be served hot meals, take showers and carry on with their daily activities as normal. I cannot convey your you what a sense of comfort that knowledge gave our family. We are extremely thankful that despite our mother’s illness, she is cared for in the best possible way everyday.
