My family and I would like to share our thanks and gratitude for the care our husband/father received at Tores. John was there for eight months. During his time there, he was treated with respect and dignity. His closest caregivers (Katie and Belinda) became part of the family. Every visit, we found John well cared for. His personal hygiene was never neglected. His room was always clean, bright, and decorated with all his personal belongings. During this end of life period, John was happy there. We were able to bring special family dinners and celebrate with him as a family. We knew he was in great hands and that eased our daily worries. We will be forever grateful..

I am compelled to write a review of Tore's Home memory-care unit because I am so grateful that this facility exists and that it is here in Brevard. Despite my commitment to keep my husband home, his physical needs became increasingly more demanding, finally more than I could safely handle 24 hour a day. With trepidation I admitted him to Tore's seven weeks ago. He quickly adjusted to the home-like environment and care he continues to receive. In truth, it took me much longer to adjust and fully appreciate what this extraordinary facility offers. The staff-to-resident ratio is so much better than any other facility I investigated. And of even greater importance is the quality of care the staff provides. They are kind, respectful, and caring to him. Additionally, they are always available to communicate with me and are responsive to my requests. Although my husband has rapidly declined both physically and cognitively and requires increasing care, the staff meets his needs without hesitation or complaint. Their performance gives me peace of mind. Even with the stresses imposed by COVID-19, Tore and this facility continue to meet the challenges with caring concern. I thank the staff and Tore for all of their efforts.

I cannot say enough good things about Tore's Home. My mother fell and was unable to care for our father, whose dementia was rapidly worsening. Carrie Mathis met with us the day after my mother came home from the hospital and home healthcare arrived the next day- amazing service. The people who came to help were like family. They were such hard workers. They ended up caring for both parents for a few weeks. My dad reached a point where we could no longer care for him at home, so Tore's was kind enough to place him at one of their homes for 5 weeks until he could be placed in a permanent memory care/ skilled nursing facility. He could be a handful, but no one complained. He was treated with the utmost kindness. The staff truly love their residents and treat them and their families with the utmost respect. The atmosphere is as close to being at home as you can get. I admire Tore for doing something to concretely address the housing, transportation and child care needs of his employees. I applaud the new facility he plans to build near the Deerlake community. I did not meet an employee I would not be happy to be my neighbor. There is such a need for elder care in our area. This is a truly novel model .

Tore’s in East Flat Rock - My husband has been a resident here for a year now and I couldn’t be more pleased with the small homes (his home has a maximum of 9 residents), the positive and loving homey environment, and the caring and attentive staff. They have been very accommodating to various diet and physical needs as his condition has changed, and since he can no longer talk, they have worked hard to get to know him and learn how to detect his needs in other ways. I have found the staff to be very open to my suggestions regarding his care, and to learning as much as they can about his condition. I would highly recommend this facility to others who need a caring, supportive home away from home. Susan Brooks
