Traditions didn't just change my dad's life but they significantly changed mine. My dad's decline wasn't just emotionally taxing: He had been taken in by four different memory care communities over 3 years and was evicted from each one for a wide variety of reasons. I was transparent with Stephanie about all of these situations, the challenges they may face, and how desperately I needed support. She had no doubt that they could help me. My dad is no longer a resident of their memory care community but is instead in regular assisted living. He plays pool with friends, participates in their art classes, and looks forward to their trips and game nights. He was taken off the mood regulating medications that made him a drone and is on the right fit of prescriptions now. He's the best version of himself. My dad's room is kept immaculately clean and they help him decorate it with the art he creates and collects. He can't tell me enough how kind everyone is to him and he urges me to stop bringing him snacks because he eats too much! I'm jealous of some of the meals they bring him. He lets my kids have the cookies though! I can sleep at night knowing he's safe, happy, and not just looked after but truly cared for. I hope this community never changes.

Beware! When you tour this facility it comes across great. What goes on behind closed doors is another matter. The director Ellen is extremely manipulative to family and staff. The staff are terrified of her and she will bully them into saying and doing things. Just look at the 1 star reviews on this account and a lot of them mention her. Management keeps her because she’s all about the money even if it’s to the detriment of the resident. In my time visiting the amount of falls is astronomical! Patients walking around with bruises and injuries that staff can’t explain. Staff found sleeping at night instead of working. Missing medications that can’t be accounted for. Medication cups with pills just laying in the residents room never given. Residents found on the floor in the morning that had laid there all night. Some staff will tell you what’s going on but they are afraid to speak up. If you are placing your loved one here be prepared to be there a lot like I am. The residents that have families that are present often seem to fare better.

Traditions of Cross Keys has a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere, and is always very clean and cheerfully decorated. The entire activities team is wonderfully patient and kind and encourage the residents to participate in a variety of activities including crafts, cooking, games, and musical entertainment. There are also parties for holidays and special occasions with delicious food, and families are encouraged to attend. Ellen, the Executive Director, was very supportive and kind during the stressful time of moving each of my parents into the community and continues to always be available for any questions. I've found the management team and staff to be kind and friendly, and I'm thankful we found Traditions of Cross Keys.

My grandmother lives at this community and it's truly awesome. The staff is so patient and kind. They truly care about the residents. To top it all off, they do amazing activities. Ellen is great and addresses and helps me with whatever I need. Great community, highly recommend!
