The memory care at Truewood as given amazing care to my mom. The staff has gone above and beyond and has been such support for our family as well. I would highly recommend their memory care to anyone looking for a loving place for their family.

I deeply regret choosing this place for my mother. I do not recommend sending your loved one with dementia here. Please look elsewhere. And if your loved one has memory issues do not let them put them on the Assisted Living side, they will move them to memory care first chance they get. It’s a bait and switch. Don’t believe the Montessori approach nonsense about memory that they say they do.. not true.

We were unable to place my dad here because he needs a ‘skilled nursing’ facility. However, Eric was soooooo nice and extremely helpful. Even though we were unable to place my dad here and he realized that very quickly, he spent a long time with us explaining what frontal lobe dementia is and what to expect in the near future. He also gave us a list of facilities in the area that would be able to take my dad because they have skilled nursing units. He was also extremely compassionate. We were so thankful for him. He even gave us his card and told us to call him with any questions or anything else that we might need- even though he knew wouldn’t be able to use them. We absolutely loved him and are so grateful we were able to meet with him. Also, Tina was very nice and compassionate.

My folks have lived here over a month and are making friends and enjoying the meals and activities. It is a nice place although we did have issues with the emergency call buttons not working it was promptly addressed and remedied. As long as those problems do not return this will remain an enthusiastic 5 star review!

My 82 year old mother who had been living an independent lifestyle needed to be in an assisted living facility. It was best that my wife and I move mom from Katy, TX to a facility closer to our home in Birmingham. This whole move came about very quickly so while looking for a facility I was very happy to find Truewood by Merrill Riverchase. Alena the Marketing Director was my initial contact and understood the urgency of placing my mom in their care and was extremely helpful getting everything set up for my mother. She always answered my texts and returned my calls, even while on vacation. I scheduled a tour of the property with Alena and when my wife and I arrived, the General Manager, Eric met us in the lobby and took us on a tour of the property, showing us the various activity areas, the courtyards and dining hall. It was lunchtime and while going through the dining area, I was very pleased to hear all of the talking and laughter, not to mention, the food smelled delicious! Eric took us into a unit that was available, but the unit was not what my mom wanted, so he and his team jumped through hoops to find a suitable unit. They were even willing to clear out the model unit if needed. In the end, a room nearing completion after a renovation could be made ready early and Lawrence, the property maintenance manager promised it would be ready for move in by the time we were planning to arrive from our long drive in from Texas. We arrived late and were greeted by four wonderful staff members; Deena, Gloria, Meisha and Debra who helped my mother from the car to her wheelchair and then on up to her new apartment, which was completely finished as promised. My experience, from initial contact and subsequent conversations with Alena about the property, terms, units, pricing, medical question, etc, along with the property tour with Eric and the review and signing of agreements was very quick, professional and organized. My mother is very happy with the look and feel of the property, her care, the staff, food and activities. I am very impressed and will recommend Truewood by Merrill Riverchase to families needing to place a loved one in a facility such as this.
