Hilda and her caregivers are so caring. I could not have selected a better place when mom needed more care. The home is so clean--no "old people" smell. Food is prepared fresh. I highly recommend Charnock Residential Home for your loved ones.

You simply cannot do better than Charnock Residential Home. The staff, accomodations, and food are all excellent, as are the outside contractors with whom Hilda regularly works. The ratio of caregivers to residents is ideal and Hilda's years of experience are priceless. My father came to stay at Charnock Residential in a preterminal state, a situation requiring both tact and skill to manage, and the team met every challenge with a pitch-perfect mix of professionalism and empathy. Charnock Residential Home is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE !!! Hilda & staff are so attentive , caring & loving! My Aunt was there in the last portion of her life and they gave her such amazing care with live , kindness & joy- every day! Charnock Residential Home was a godsend for our family when it became clear that our beloved aunt could no longer care for herself at home. We knew that we wanted a board & care situation in a private home vs. a nursing home facility because our aunt suffered from dementia and we wanted her to have a warm and inviting environment instead of the sterile institutionalized feel of a lot of nursing homes. After an exhaustive search, we found and chose Charnock Residential Home after meeting with its founder and owner, Hilda C. We noticed immediately that Hilda was "called" for this type of service to others. Her warmth, compassion and dedication were evident in the first meeting, but what also stood out was her extensive knowledge and background in caring for dementia patients. Hilda's communication was second to none; I live in another state and Hilda was always available to update me on my aunt's situation from her daily moods and routine, to meals, dr's appointments, etc. I felt like I had a partner in Hilda who cared for my aunt like family and this was especially important since I was 3000 miles away. I will add that the home was always spotlessly clean, the home-cooked meals were incredible and Hilda and her staff were always coming up with creative activities tailored to each resident in their various stages of dementia. Lastly, I must mention that my aunt's stay was in the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic and Charnock Residential Home did not have 1 reported case in the nearly two and a half years my aunt lived there. Sadly, our sweet Aunt Betty passed away in October just 3 days shy of her 91st birthday, but through our grief, we will always be grateful for Hilda and the staff at Charnock Residential Home. I recently lost a dear friend who was a resident of Charnock for a a little over two years. It was always a delight to visit her there because she felt at home, I felt at home, the ambiance and caregivers were always lovingly gentle and helpful to her. Not to mention the wonderful aroma of their freshly prepared meals that my friend always said were quite tasty. When speaking with my friend's family we both agreed that they and I didn't have to worry about her because Charnock's care was like an extension of her family and friends. Thank you.
