It’s a charter school, a nonprofit, right? Supposedly for the Latino community. But if you send your kids there, they’ll end up forgetting Spanish. The CEO of this school her salary is $320,000 a year — almost $15,000 a month. That’s insane. So where exactly is the “nonprofit” helping the Latino community? My taxes are going to charter schools like this. They say they’re proud of their heritage, but their own kids don’t even speak Spanish, only English. It’s just a shame. They’re so two-faced.

The 55th anniversary dinner at UCC was something special. Between the powerful performances (Latino Arts String Ensemble directed by Dinorah Márquez stood out), the community-focused energy, and the incredible food (especially the vegan veggie skewers and beet hummus), it was clear this place is a pillar of Milwaukee’s Latino community. Hearing about the impact they've had over the years was both grounding and uplifting. I’ve always loved coming to their Día de los Muertos art displays, and events like this only deepen my appreciation for everything they do. Tip: Don’t skip the cultural exhibitions during their public events, they’re some of the most thoughtful and moving in the city.

My experience hasn’t been the greatest since enrolling my child. I had only 1.5 decent year of my child being here since K3 to 1st grade. Especially with the new principal and as many teachers that were let go from Major incidents. Alot of friends and family removed their kids from this school after a year and I stuck through to keep my child regulated and to stay with her friends but the treatment my daughter & my nephew have been receiving is unacceptable. Of course I appreciate the good teachers we did come across but it doesn’t soften the blow of everything we had to experience. Felt like discrimination, targeting, harassment, lying and much more. I wouldn’t recommend enrolling your child here especially of color.

Volunteering here is a joke. My kids and I tried to volunteer. Followed up countless times. One of my kids speaks Spanish and is very talented at math. He would have been perfect for after school tutoring. Find another place to donate your time. We will be stopping our financial donations to them as well.
