Stayed here twice and it was pretty nice. It's a pretty safe place and the nurses are super kind and helpful.

I brought someone I know who was staying here an inspiring book that was relevant to their situation. This person is an adult. The book wasn’t given to them until they left because the people who work there deemed it inappropriate. Well I think that is an inappropriate action to take. 👎 Edit: generic responses are gross. 💩

This place failed my son not once but twice my son has a video game addiction with others serious mental heath conditions. They allowed him to play video games. Changed his meds 3 times in 3 days! No therapy no help told us he was fine after having suicidal thoughts panic attacks and just sent him home. They treated us like we were lying and had security watching our every move. Our son needed help and they did nothing

went here like 3 or 4 times cause i struggle with psychotic depression, some of the staff is nice but the others will judge you but act like they aren´t being condescending. Steph is the nicest CNA tho and she really has a deep sense of understanding and perception. She was like a mom to me while i was there, and that says a lot since i have mom issues lmao. The food is great, i suggest not getting the wraps tho cause the tortillas are usually expired. Also... they should give something to exfoliate your body with or i suggest bringing something cause the rags barely work. The group therapies can be very helpful if you struggle with social anxiety or other issues. This place will make you feel heard and not alone which really helped me overcome my social anxiety. Forgot to mention i was in the adolescent unit, the adult unit is right above the teen unit and you kinda end up hearing everything from above, if you struggle with psychotic symptoms like me i suggest getting ear plugs or something because I personally couldnt sleep cause of how scared i was and i thought they were planning something against me. I think some of the staff needs to have a more empathetic warm attitude cause i thought they didn´t care and they really dont know how to deal with someone with mental problems. At one point I had a really bad break down and all they did was give me a shot and they didn´t really help me with what was going on they just kept yelling at me and they acted as if they were annoyed with me.. (you work at a mental hospital why not be passionate about your job?) Tbh the place isn´t too bad its mainly issues with some of the staff and environment, its also kinda easy to get access to things to do harm with so i feel like they should for sure do something about that.. To finalize i think i should mention that you dont really get treatment for yourself but its more so just general treatment for everyone so you may end up having some unresolved issues and not get the treatment you specifically need. EDIT: also the social worker in the teen unit is terrible at her job, she is a big part on why others, including myself, were not getting the help we need. She is also very snarky and disrespectful but tries to hide it in a professional tone which she so badly fails to do. She called me crazy and refused to believe me when I was bringing up a serious issue with court. Honestly they should hire a different social worker cause this woman clearly does not care about her job and the people who need her help. Also the doctors will put you on a room plan if you think you are there to just socialize, absolutely zero help is given when you are put on one cause they just forget about you and only get you out for major daily events and medication. If they think you look and act okay they automatically think you´re fine, I don´t think that they have realized that mental illness can look different for everyone. Besides that if you get into a ordeal with a peer nothing is done about it and they usually just send you to your room.

If i could give zero stars i would. Warning: do not assume this facility will actually help your family member. This is the 2nd time I have had a family member in their behavioral health department. It is also the second time that Gunderson has proven to be absolutely horrendous to work with to get your family member the help they need. The social worker on staff for the adolescents in need does not follow through and then attempts to blame her incompetence on others. They attempted to give my family member medication that had been explicitly refused for adverse reactions. While they say over and over again they want to provide support when you ask for the referral and information necessary to care for your family member and to help them not end up back in their care you are given every excuse in the book for them to get out of actually doing their job.
