Big thanks to Home Instead for continuing Be a Santa to a Senior year after year. Cornerstone Church in Hemet, CA was packed with volunteers wrapping gifts for seniors, and the energy was incredible. Proud to have helped out—Santa and the Grinch included.

Today I filed a police report because my elderly mother with alzheimers who has Home Instead caregivers in her home 6 days per week has thousands of dollars of missing items from her home. California law says no caregiver in this state can accept gifts from the elderly. Because caregivers used to steal all of the elderly person's things and then lie saying the elderly person gave it to them. Now if a caregiver claims the stolen items were gifts they are charged with theft and elder abuse. I am working with the Sheriff to find out who took thousands of dollars of my mother's things. Also, the other day my mother fell while taking a shower while a caregiver was in her home and she had to be admitted to the hospital. When I spoke to the man who runs the Home Instead office, he wasn't even aware of the fact that my mother, his client, fell while taking a shower when one of his caregivers was there and that it resulted in her being hospitalized. He was also not aware that the caregiver who was there when my mother fell was still being sent to my mother's home. UNBELIEVABLE! EXTREMELY IRRESPONSIBLE! I told him to stop sending her there and he told me he might consider still sending her there against my wishes. VERY DISRESPECTFUL OF ME AND MY MOM! I think that the office doesn't check up and supervise their caregivers enough. The fact the manager didn't even know my mother fell while taking a shower during his caregiver's shift and the fact that my mother is missing a lot of expensive items from her home says a lot about the lack of supervision the caregivers' have. This isn't the first time they were disorganized and unaware. When i signed my mother up with Home Instead, my mother and I meet in the manager's office and had a long conversation about what schedule she wanted and a lot of other things. When the caregivers didn't show up on the day we agreed to, which was a week later, i called the office to ask why no caregivers were there. The manager told me that he forgot what we discussed, he had no idea what schedule we had agreed to, and he hadn't passed on any information to his staff. I couldn't believe how disorganized he was. Would you want this happening to your mom? I called the owner of Home Instead and he has never called me back.

We have been blessed by having Darrin Reed as my caregiver. He is extremely important to the smooth running of our home and my care. I need help with exercising, daily, and bathing, daily; he provides cheerful yet comprehensive care. He also assists with laundry, getting mail for us and folding things like towels and bedding. When I go to bed at night, the bed is turned back and waiting for me. Our cats get time with a brush for excess fur, if he has a chance to be with them (purrs all around for Honorary Uncle Darrin!). He is a member of this household in good standing.

I am writing in response to a recent review that was posted by someone who purports to be my younger sister, Lisa. In this review, "Lisa" made several inaccurate statements about Home Instead and their staff. As my mother's Medical Power of Attorney and Durable Power of Attorney, I feel it’s important to share my own experience with Home Instead in Hemet. The team at Home Instead has been nothing but kind, patient, and genuinely caring toward my mom. I have complete confidence in their commitment to keeping her safe and providing the best possible care for her. They’ve become a true partner in supporting her health, and I appreciate how well they work with me to ensure she’s getting the attention she needs. The communication with both the staff and their management has been outstanding. Thanks to Home Instead, I can rest easy at night and manage my full-time job, knowing that my mom is in the hands of people who genuinely care for her well-being.

Each day a dedicated caregiver arrives from Home Instead to assist my wife, who suffered a stroke, with personal care, meal preparation and mobility help. Over the last four years, our family has enjoyed the friendly and devoted care provided by Home Instead. The office staff is always available to answer any questions we have. The regular visits to our home by the Client Coordinator contributes to excellent communication between our family and Home Instead. We have already recommended Home Instead to our neighbors and friends. Our family is grateful for the senior care provided by Home Instead.
