I love living at Walton Wood and the very best employee here is Dionne! I am fortunate to have what I think is the best apartment, as it is bright. Unfortunately, many are dark and I would find that dreary. Our (I have a husband of 59 years) apartment also opens directly to the outdoors. We never looked at another senior living facility mainly because . apartment was immediately available. Almost all the employees are kind and caring and that means so much to all the residents. It took time to adjust to the new life, and as an ambassador to newcomers I see it in all of them, especially single women. We’ve had to suddenly divest ourselves of our longtime belongings. Ron and I moved much more quickly than anticipated so I ended up tossing many family albums, and I donated antiques that my mother had “trained” me to love. Amazingly I don’t regret doing so and that surprises me. As I look back on my life I realize that leaving one home and moving to another never upset me! I one time that I was upset and cried was leave a little summer cottage on a lake in Wisconsin. We are presently owners of a beach house here in NC , and I keep wondering how long I can maintain it. Just thinking about selling it brings tears to my eyes. in my middle age (40’s) I went to beauty school and became a hair dresser. I was the oldest student needless to say. I opened my own asking on West Chatham Street here in Cary and had six or seven employees. For one who was extremely shy as a child this was a frightening experience, but it was my hobby and I loved it. I spent every day and evenings there for a long time. Interestingly my two children got the best grades ever that first year I wasn’t there to check up on them! So there. Too much !

We relocated my mother to Waltonwood about 8 years ago. The staff guided us through every step and helped to make her transition to a new state and a new home a lot easier. So many of the staff have been there since day one and continue to support her everyday. The Life Enrichment staff do an incredible job engaging the residents in activites that support their well-being and social engagement. We know that our mother (and NANA) is so well loved and taken care of by the entire staff.

It's never an easy task to find the best place for your parent or loved one. It's been nearly 2 years with our family member at Waltonwood. We have been very pleased with Waltonwood. The staff, environment, and activities are wonderful.

We evaluated a number of retirement community options for my father last year after the loss of my stepmother. She was his primary caretaker, so we decided to move him to the Triangle to be closer to me - but we obviously wanted him in the right community. There are so many angles of consideration, and we were overwhelmed by the process. However, after our first tour of Waltonwood Cary, it just felt right (holistically). I have waited to provide a review because I wanted to see how it would go, and honestly, it has been beautiful on so many fronts for our family. Nick and Olu were the sales / marketing team that helped us initially - but what is so amazing is how engaged they are with the community on an ongoing basis. They are both special people, but to be honest, we have been blown away by the whole team. Waltonwood Cary is a special place (nice residents, good food, a caring team, nice facilities, diverse and well-planned activities, etc.). Overall, we couldn't be happier, and the team at Waltonwood has earned this recommendation!

The first time we toured Waltonwood, I thought it was going to be the benchmark for finding the right place for my husband's mother, and after visiting elsewhere and returning for another tour, it still was exactly what we were looking for. It is something else when residents genuinely express their unsolicited appreciation for the excellent staff and friendliness of their fellow tenants. All of the staff that we have interacted with have been wonderful. Olu Williams, for example, is the marketing manager, and his warmth, engagement, and concern for the well-being of the residents is everything you would hope for and is indicative of the culture we've experienced at Waltonwood Cary.
