My mother is 88 yrs old and is living in the independent care section at Wellmore and absolutely loves it. She was extremely nervous and dreading the transition from living in a home with my father to Wellmore and just raves about the staff, the quality of the food and the activities now that she is there. The other members of Wellmore have also been extremely welcoming and kind which has been a major benefit as well. I have nothing but positive things to say about the entire team!!

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful note about your mother's Wellmore experience. Knowing she was feeling nervous and is now truly thriving, enjoying the food, activities, staff, and fellow Members, means more than we can express. We’re honored you've trusted our team to provide care and support for your mom.

I am very unhappy with Welmore of Lexington. My father is a current resident in the memory care unit. 2 nights ago he was found at 4:25am. by the Lexington police department over a quarter mile away from the facility in the middle of Sunset Blvd. He was nearly hit by the patrolman. The officer placed him and his walker (he is a fall risk) in the patrol car and took him back to Welmore. Upon getting there they couldn't get in and had couldn't get in contact with any of the staff. Fortunately another resident there saw them and let them in. The staff didn't even know that he was gone. My dad is 88 years ago and it has taken as long as an hour and a half for him to get from his room to the front door so for him to get that distance and up the incline and around the gate he had been gone several hours. The staff admitted that they had last seen him at 9pm when he was given meds. This is currently being investigated by the police.

Susan, we appreciate your feedback and know that situations involving loved ones’ care can be difficult. While we are unable to discuss specific situations except with those holding POA authority, the situation described is not representative of our standards, the care we provide, or the tireless efforts of our team members. Our Executive Director, Crystal Butcher, would appreciate speaking with you. Please contact her at your earliest convenience at (803) 520-1205.
