DO NOT CONSIDER THIS FACILITY FOR YOUR LOVED ONE! During my visit to assess the facility for my dad, I met with Alexis, the social worker. She was extremely rude, asking invasive questions about personal finances and who would be responsible for payment. It appeared she had sole decision-making authority, which raised doubts about the transparency of their procedures. Ultimately, she was unhelpful and dismissive of our concerns. Alexis Chism, the social worker at the health center, informed us that my loved one was "not progressing" and proposed discharging him to a nursing facility without obtaining approval from any doctor or healthcare provider regarding his condition. Initially, she mentioned he would be transferred within a week, but abruptly changed the plan the following day, stating he would be moved immediately. She falsely claimed he was being relocated to a long-term care facility, only for us to later discover he would stay at the new facility for only two months. When we arrived to visit him, he was not there, and they had transferred him without obtaining signatures from family members or from the patient himself. Alexis claimed ignorance regarding his whereabouts, and we later found out they transferred him without proper approval or discharge papers. Upon reaching the new facility, the manager informed us they had received paperwork from his previous rehabilitation center, not Westminster, suggesting an attempt to avoid documenting his transfer to Westminster due to concerns about his high-risk status following a fall.

My mother recently suffered a congestive heart failure exacerbation and was admitted to the hospital. She had lost significant ability in the hospital and it was determined that she needed skilled nursing before she could transition back home. She was placed at Westminster Lake Ridge facility, where they had skilled nursing for her and I can’t say more good things about this organization. She came there completely afraid of being alone and about the recovery process. Whose going to be on her side? The nursing staff and administration treated her like a family member. It helps that the facilities are absolutely beautiful. Even when it became clear that our mother would require a longer stay they helped us wade through the very murky waters of long term care to find a solution. Our social worker, Alexis, was an angel put on this earth to help us through this very difficult situation. We all know that our parents are one day going to need more services and the guidance and the care that they showed my mother gave us great comfort and assurance that we were in the right place. They set the standard for any senior living facility and are a great resource to Virginians who are transitioning to more care or going through recovery. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Westminster from the Fazelat Family.

We have been looking, carefully looking, at senior communities in the Northern Virginia area, and happened across Westminster of Lake Ridge— what a lovely community! What kind and thoughtful staff! What a lovely location! With walking trails, garden and gardening areas, close to shops, transportation options, and having a continuum of care, it’s well worth checking out. The apartments are well designed and actually customizable, as are the cottages. In talking to residents, we felt warmly welcomed and heard the enjoyment they had living in the community. We had the pleasure of spending the night with them, so that out family could see where we are planning to move—and based on our experience and theirs, they are encouraging other senior family members to come take a look.
