My grandfather moved in to the facility in 2024, and initially we were happy about the services provided. However, after only 2 months at the facility, we had to move him out due to neglect and inadequate staffing that led to serious health issues for him. During the consultation, the staff promised a certain level of care due to his special needs related to being wheelchair-bound. However, the day before his move-in date, they reversed some of their promises, stating that it was outside their normal services. After the initial medical consult, my grandfather was supposed to start PT and OT but that never happened under the staff's care. In the span of two months he fell several times, even when staff was in the room with him. During one of those incidents, staff forced him to go to urgent care alone, despite both him and his power of attorney declining the medical attention. These are just some of the ways the staff at Westmont failed my grandfather, and led to him leaving the facility in much worse medical condition than he was when he was admitted. Although the facilities are nice and updated, the staff should have been more clear with us about how the level of care they were able to provide. I am happy that many people have had good experiences here, but I feel compelled to share our family's unfortunate experiences for other's awareness.

We had to make the difficult decision to move our parents from assisted living into a memory care. I looked at several places and ultimately chose Westmont because of how the staff treated a friend who was living in memory care there and because the facilities suited my parents very well. The staff was wonderful with helping get everything set up and with helping my parents make the transition. I know they are safe and are receiving a higher level of care than they were before. My mom, especially was not thrilled about having to move, but she has not complained since she got there. The staff has been wonderful.

My in-laws have been at Westmont Carmel Valley for 5 months and have settled into this beautiful community. There is Physical Therapy available on site, which is very convenient. Diana at the front desk is always cheerful, conscientious, and extraordinarily helpful. Christina, the activities director, is funny, sweet, and dedicated. Le and Nada on the care team are very responsive and attentive. Mercedes in the main office is extremely caring and goes out of her way to do whatever she can for the residents. I have watched her work after hours on multiple occasions, and she makes herself available to residents and their families, helping with whatever issues or concerns come up, whether or not they are in her job description.

As the owner of Silver Linings Transitions, a senior move management company, we are in senior communities on a daily basis helping new residents settle into their new homes and lifestyles. Just today, I visited with one of the first residents we helped to move in more than a year ago. She told me how much she is enjoying living in the Westmont Carmel Valley community. We work frequently with Anne-Marie Coman and her move in coordinator Donelle. Anne-Marie is extremely communicative and warm and when we assist her new residents they are always extremely satisfied with her professionalism. I am also extremely impressed with her Executive Director Chad who I frequently see interacting with residents and staff and is friendly and outgoing. The community is incredibly clean, friendly and always seems to have engaging activities. I see a lot of communities, and I would consider Westmont Carmel Valley to be among the best!

Senior Living is hospitality meets healthcare. The heart of the community is the dinning room social time. This community has great family-like staff, I attended an open house event and it was a lovely experience among the guest from the public, their residents and staff. We all mingled and enjoyed a wonderful evening with an outdoor delicious dinner and a lovely book reading. I loved that their residents and staff were all included and treated as family at this heartwarming event. Melissa Casanova, Senior Advisor
