Staff is great. Activities great. Food terrible. Most of the time I do not eat main course. It gets worse and worse. New company not doing their job

Everyone is friendly here. The activities are varied and appeal to. tenants with all different interests. The food, kosher, is fair. The apartments are spacious.

I would give them zero stars but it won’t let me. I have absolutely nothing positive to say!! It is awful and looks like a hospital. “Outsiders” as they call family and friends are NOT allowed in the dining room. Food for dinner need be picked a week ahead of time and circled on a piece of paper that looks like a school cafeteria paper. No staff is nice or helpful. Good luck if you fall - they will NOT help you! Unorganized move in! Halls are dingy and not inviting. You’ll need to bring your own trash down the hall to the shoot. Laminate was peeling off the kitchen drawers. Living room curtains had a hem that was unattached on one half of them. Strict rules on move in times. No guest parking. No residents really socialize and there is only one spot to do so . The cafe is closed. Dinner is 4-6 and not open on weekends. I have plenty more to say but this is a start for you to know!!!!!!

My mom recently moved into Lester from a senior community in Livingston. She first went there since there was a temporary respite unit available after having a fire in her apartment. She was reluctant at first since she thought that most of the residents were not as lively as she is. On a short time she found that her days were filled with activities and made many new friends. The staff was welcoming and having meals on a regular basis allowed her to meet people quickly. She is a young 95 and has found a new life at Lester. I am somewhat biased since I have been on the JCHC board for over 20 years. But my and my Mom’s expectations have been exceeded.

My mom has been a resident of Lester Assisted Living for about 18 months. She initially came for respite care, but we knew this was her permanent move even before that. A few things that I would want prospective families to know: -The food, the food, the food! Mom raves about the food and really likes the dining manager and staff. She is lactose intolerant and this is never an issue. In fact, because it's kosher, she can eat things she's never eaten at a restaurant before, like meatballs not made with cheese! -The aides and staff are (mostly) attentive and caring. She has nice relationships with them. -The activities are top notch and a differentiator as we were making our decision. Having guest speakers and cultural events is really nice, in addition to crafts, gardening and trips to events at the JCC. And celebrating so many holidays. -The lobby and first floor renovations are well done and gorgeous. Light and airy and lots of common areas to spend time with others or alone. -The apartments are a good size, especially compared to other places. -We like that independent and assisted living do activities together (not meals). -The wellness room knows her well and is on top of medication. -The grounds are pretty and quiet given it's on the MetroWest campus. Much different than other places we looked at right on a main road. -Being non-profit makes a difference. If you aren't looking for a Jewish place, still suggest you look. It is a mixed population. I encourage you to visit and happy to answer any questions. Good luck if you are in a search process.
