WINGATE RESIDENCES ON THE EAST SIDE

We worked with residents at Wingate Residences to test out a walking cane that we built for a class project. Maggie was an amazing host, clearly very attuned to the residents' needs and we had a great time meeting the residents. Even just during our one-hour visit, the residents were incredibly sweet, community was very strong and supportive, and the facilities/amenities were clean and modern. Thank you Wingate & Maggie!

I had no expectations when I walked in the door. I just knew I couldn’t live alone for the time being. I walked in to a vista of light! And a view pf the Seekonk river and the old bridge that blew me away. Everywhere I look is filled with light and open space and comfort. There are social spaces and contemplative ones as well, that spoke to me of a rare intelligence and a sense of what it means to be seen and cared for. And the residents and staff alike are incredibly comfortable here and freely share themselves in a specially warm but non intrusive way. Soon after I arrived I was confronted with two issues that rendered me almost helpless — the care & support I received could not have been better. And so, I found this place truly by accident but I feel as though I landed in chocolate.

My mom enjoyed living in The Neighborhood at Wingate. There were fun daily activities that she always enjoyed joining in on and the staff was always attentive, super kind and helpful. It is a beautiful area of the facility and her apartment was bright and sunny ! I highly recommend it !

For the past year my cousin and I have been caring for our aunt who is in the mid-stages of dementia and needed guidance and support through this new way of life. Based on a recommendation from another assisted-living facility not affiliated with Wingate where my aunt was living for a short time, I reached out to Wingate Residence on the East Side to see if their memory care program was more tailored to my aunt’s specific needs. My first contact there was with Maggie Kuriakose. From the minute I first spoke with her by phone and experienced her personality, I had a sense of great comfort. She began by asking very appropriate questions about the needs of my aunt so as to advise me of what she believed would be best for my aunt. It was apparent from Maggie‘s outgoing personality that she not only loves what she does there, but she is proud of what Wingate has to offer those like my aunt. My aunt’s medical situation required a bit of a process to get her to the memory care program at Wingate, but Maggie, Lisa, the primary nurse in that program, and the entire team, thoughtfully guided me every step of the way. I was able to visit Wingate prior to my aunt’s acceptance there and met what can only be described as a wonderful community. It was readily apparent that the team there works together and is passionate about what they do. Even before my aunt moved there, staff members knew who I was, knew my aunt’s name, and they all expressed their enthusiasm at meeting her and working with her. Truly like family! The facility is absolutely beautiful and very well organized. Upon my aunt being evaluated to be sure that she was able to safely live at the Wingate facility, she was cleared and accepted as a resident. My aunt is now a resident in that part of the facility known as “the Neighborhood”, an area of the facility that provides not only great care to their residents, but personal and undivided attention as needed, and permitting each resident to have the freedom to be who they are and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and a full schedule of activities that I don’t think I could even keep up with! :-), including programs designed to enable the residents to be stimulated both physically and mentally. My aunt has her personal belongings and furniture in a very personal surrounding creating a little apartment-setting for her to now call “home”. The apartment was set up and looks absolutely adorable. My aunt entered the facility as the final touches were taking place with the unsolicited help of a team of people, including Vincent “Vinnie”, the Executive Director at Wingate, who helped me hang photos in my aunt’s new residence. When I tell you the entire Wingate team goes above and beyond every step of the way, it is by no means an exaggeration. My aunt was greeted as she arrived by Vinny, Maggie, Lina (the Director of the neighborhood), Lisa, a nurse, and a host of other wonderful staff members. It was as if my aunt was boarding a cruise-ship for a vacation. In fact, the welcoming extended to her brought tears to my eyes with the sincerity of everyone there and the joy on my aunt’s face. I was very hesitant in my aunt’s acceptance of once again being relocated, but she entered the “Neighborhood” at Wingate with such a warm welcome and an apartment to make her now call home, that my hesitancy was short-lived. So that I don’t go on and on (because I could do so easily), I’d like to say that if there is anyone you know that needs or will be needing such a facility, I highly recommend to call Maggie to visit and tour the facility. That alone will answer any question you possibly could have and give you the comfort of knowing this wonderful facility – with its wonderful and caring staff - exists. Michael

My friend and client moved into Wingate about 6 months ago and Vincent and Misty have helped him to settle in so beautifully. Very supportive in every way you could need. It was comforting knowing that my client was well cared about. They have gone above and beyond in helping us to work out the details of daily routines and adjusting to the new environment being very patient with him and us as we learned the where’s and how’s of Wingate Residence ran. The staff in nursing and dining are wonderful and caring. Front desk staff is always pleasant and helpful and the maintenance staff always willing to help with issues and room needs. Very pleasant and loving environment and the facility is immaculate as well as very organized. Thank you Wingate for your impeccable care and for making our experience one worthy of high praise.
