Moving my mom into assisted living was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make as a daughter. From the very first visit to Varenita of Simi Valley, I felt a sense of calm and reassurance that I hadn’t felt anywhere else. The entire team went above and beyond to make this transition not just smooth, but genuinely comforting—for both my mom and our family. They treated her with dignity, patience, and real kindness from day one. It’s clear that this isn’t just a job to them; they truly care about the residents as individuals. The community itself is beautiful, warm, and welcoming. The staff is attentive, responsive, and always willing to answer questions or offer support. I never feel like I’m “checking in” on my mom—I feel like I’m partnering with a team that wants the very best for her. What matters most to me is that my mom feels safe, respected, and happy—and she does. Seeing her settled, engaged, and cared for has brought our family such peace of mind. I am deeply grateful to everyone at Varenita of Simi Valley for creating a place that feels like home during such an emotional chapter in our lives. If you are a family member facing this same difficult decision, I cannot recommend Varenita of Simi Valley enough.

Varenita is where both of my parents live. It is a very, very good place to live. Both of my parents, especially my father, needed special attention right around the time they built the place. My mother has some incontinence issues and my father had a stroke, but is still able to walk with a walker ! Praise God. I visit them constantly, probably too much. I am grateful they can walk down to Wendy’s and have some food. I’ve already talked to the owners of the Wendy’s and ask them to create low sodium dishes for them. They do not ever eat at the extremely expensive low quality place across the way I won’t permit it, and I won’t pay for it. I arrive weekly and sometimes take them to Ventura Boulevard where we can enjoy wonderful healthy Mediterranean food. But I would never ever recommend any other place, other than Varenita for a living arrangement for your parents these folks here are very attentive and take care of every detail. And when you walk in the place smells clean and fresh.

Words can not adequately express how grateful we are that we chose Varenita for my mom. We looked at many other assisted living facilities. Varenita more than exceeded our expectations. The staff are exceptional in their kindness, compassion, skill, loving care and attention to our mom and her needs. There is a warm family feel at Varenita. As my son in law said after visiting, "this really is a special place". After a short stay in the hospital my mom was discharged to an acute rehab facility where she had an accident. While back at the hospital we found out her injuries were life threatening and we received the devastating news that mom had 24 to 48 hours to live. Mom wanted to go back home to Varenita. Once back at home, the amazing staff lovingly cared for mom. She was up, dressed, walking, eating, and back to herself once she was home. We got two more wonderful weeks with her. I know without a doubt we received this treasured gift of two more weeks with mom because she was surrounded by the loving nursing and care staff. The Hanson family will never forget and will forever be grateful for the deep love and care our mom received at Varenita.

My mother was here for a short time, and we absolutely loved it for her. The staff is very involved and concerned for your parent and will do all they can to make them comfortable. Becky showed us around and was always there for our needs. I could reach her by text even on her days off. The director, Pam, is also very helpful and clearly cares. The nurse is great, and even the person who handles the payments will go out of her way for you. They have so many activities daily, and my mom went to many of them. In addition, they have outings to restaurants and shops, and different things so they can get out for a change of scenery. She ended up moving with my sister but I would have been comfortable with her being at Varenita for the rest of her life. The caregivers were very kind and attentive; they cannot always get there immediately, but I saw that they were very good in this dept because she had been in another facility prior. We looked at facilities throughout Simi Valley and felt this was the best.

I attended a presentation about this future assisted living facility in Simi Valley where Julie, Dana, and Annie were there to answer all my questions.. From what I saw in the brochure and architectural plans on the walls, this will be a spectacular, much-needed assisted living facility. It sounds gorgeous! Although it’’s still under construction, you can see an example of the kitchen and bathroom in the leasing office. The bathroom is huge, can accommodate a wheelchair and several helpers, and there is no level change going into the shower. Perfect for someone with limited mobility, back issues, or a wheelchair. I can’t wait to see Varenita when it’s complete!
