I want to take a moment to share my thoughts on our experience with Wyatt House. First, the staff at Wyatt House are incredibly friendly and attentive. From the moment my mother arrived, she felt welcome.  We moved in on a weekend but in the following days staff ensured that moving needs were met, helped with room decoration (thank you!!) and changed out a refrigerator that decided to quit.  Someone was always available to assist with any questions or concerns we had. The facilities themselves are solid. The one- bedroom apartment unit is spacious.  Common areas are comfortable and there is a good amount of space for social activities. Outdoor  areas are very limited but the entrance is well landscaped; parking for visitors can be a challenge-- it is limited! The amenities provided to residents at Wyatt House are excellent. The dining options are varied, catering to a range of tastes. The wait staff can be apprised of any dietary concerns by family members as well, e.g. if your parent needs to avoid excess sugar, caffeine or if alcohol is a no- go for the elder's health, staff will work to ensure it isn't on offer. Overall, I believe my 87 yo mother who is physically still able and doesn't have chronic medical issues but has started to have memory concerns feels Wyatt house is small enough that you know everyone.  There is a variety of social activities on offer that make her feel she's participating. The welcoming atmosphere, staff quality and solid facilities, gives my brothers and I a sense of security about my mother's residence there. Making decisions about how best to support your parents as their time on this earth draws to a close is never easy and the number of decisions can be daunting at best. Cassie and the spectacular team at Wyatt House became our beacon in the dark and we will forever be grateful for all they did to make our journey easier. Mom and Dad were welcomed with open arms, and received the highest level of care and respect - something that is often discounted in our busy world. And I found true partners who were able to guide me with compassion, be flexible and respond immediately no matter what was needed, and let me cry on their shoulders when the load seemed too heavy. Whether it was med managment multiple times/day, on-site PT, personal care, laundry service, delicious meals, nursing support, fun activities, or simply handing out smiles and encouragement... the team at Wyatt House was there to help. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention the wonderful folks who live at Wyatt House. They always went out of their way to include my parents and it was beyond incredible to see Mom, ever so shy, make new friends and reengage in the world. She even "stayed out late watching a movie with the ladies"; something impossible just a few weeks before. Dad was finally able to relax a bit knowing that she was safe and truly happy. I can't speak more highly of our experience at Wyatt House and although Mom and Dad are no longer with us, I know that we will always be part of the Wyatt House family. Thank you all for opening your hearts and creating a space Mom and Dad could call home.
