I have been thinking about the review I want to compose about Abington Manor because I want to get it right. To make sure everyone that is considering this home for themselves or for a family member, I will tell you my story. My dear cousin had been having problems with dementia for quite some time. She was trying to handle her home and health on her own, but dementia was winning, making it obvious to everyone but herself that she wasn't safe at in her home anymore. Sadly, she ended up in the hospital. I felt that this was my opportunity to find her a safer living situation. I only had a week to research homes that provided memory care and have her discharged, kicking and screaming, to the home I selected. This was unusual because it had to happen fast. Casey Longo was up to the job. She arranged for a nurse to meet with my cousin at the hospital to be sure that she would be a good fit at Abington Manor. That done, Casey helped me get all the records and paperwork in order. It was no easy task because I live in a different state so it all had to be emailed and scanned back and forth. Casey was there for me. I called her during the day, evenings, and on the weekend too. She was knowledgeable, organized and very kind. I was scattered and stressed. Anyway, my cousin was transported directly from the hospital to her studio apartment at Abington Manor exactly 10 days after she was admitted to the hospital. I worried that my cousin woul miss her home and want to leave, but she loves it there! The staff are very attentive without being overbearing. The choices provided for meals in the dining room are varied daily. The activities offered are an excellent opportunity for much needed socializing. And the studio apartment is a perfect size for my cousin to relax and read or watch her favorite evening television shows. My cousin feels very safe in this secure memory care home. In closing, let me tell you what happened when I visited my cousin. I was worried that she would see me and be angry that I wouldn't allow her to return home. But the first thing she did was hug me and cried with happiness. She immediately asked if I sold her house. I was unsure how to respond, but I said I needed to sell her house so she could afford to live at Abington Manor. She said, "thank God. I never want to leave here!". Then, I cried with happiness and relief.

Abington Manor is a great place for your loved one. The staff there are very helpful. We are planning for the future and not quite ready yet, but reception and Casey were so kind and responsive. We are excited to come here when the time comes.

Abington Manor Memory Care is such a wonderful and lovely place for my Aunt to be living! She is well taken care of, with dignity and respect, by such a kind and compassionate staff, who have become like family. The calendar of activities keep my aunt engaged, including the monthly family luncheons and special events provided for the residents. The monthly support group is so beneficial to the families. I am truly blessed to have found Abington, and would recommend it to anyone!

Abington has not only been an excellent source of support and care for my mother during her dementia progression but also for her family who is left to navigate the difficulties this disease brings. The staff at Abington are not just professional administrators and care providers but empathetic and loving individuals who become family! Until it affects you personally, I’m not sure anyone can truly understand or appreciate how much difference finding the right place for your loved one can make in bringing some comfort and relief with such a devastating disease. Abington Manor provides all of that and so much more! The Staff truly love what they do and obviously, have been called to do such challenging work at times - all with patience and smiles! I would highly recommend Abington for their Assisted Living and Memory Care to anyone in need.
