I visited the other property the Academy at university Hill, and also had the chance to visit this property. Has such beautiful landscaping. Staff was really friendly. Nice water feature in the back of the facility. Walled garden is beautiful. Residents seemed well taken care of and the entire property was immaculate. So clean.

My Mother (now 98 years old) has resided at Bella Vista for five and a half years. When she moved into Bella Vista from an assisted living facility, there was an immediate improvement in her level of functioning. The small size (10 residents) and caregiver/resident ratio (three caregivers at all times) helped her to feel at home and to participate in the numerous activities provided including music almost daily, art, Growing Gardens, and daily exercise. Prior to the pandemic there were also outings to restaurants, the Merry-Go-round in Nederland, and the pumpkin patch to name a few. Extraordinary care continued to be provided during the challenging times of the pandemic. When in-person visits were not allowed, Bella Vista made individual Zoom sessions available. Music and exercise continued to be provided to residents via Zoom. Three years after moving in my Mother lost her eyesight to glaucoma, and we were afraid that we would have to move her to a different facility. However, the Director, the nurse, and the caregivers have worked with her and us, and she has been able to remain at Bella Vista. She continues to be content to sit in Bella Vista’s lovely south facing living room and enjoy the music and the sunshine. When the weather is warm she especially enjoys sitting outside in the lovely patio garden listening to the waterfall.

Beautiful facility, but residents have to exhibit perfect behavior or you will be asked to pay for a personal care giver on top of the higher than average monthly fee. Normal dementia behaviors are considered a problem at this facility even through they bill themselves as a memory care facility. We also experienced multiple medication administration errors. Be cautious; you can likely do better somewhere else.
