ARBOR HOUSE ASSISTED LIVING OF MIDWEST CITY

If I could give negative stars, I would! My 91 year old dad lived at Arbor House for 2 1/2 years. The place was sold to legends about a year ago and it steadily declined. I wasn’t happy with his lack of care. I tried speaking to the director, Cara Northcutt, Christy Gilmore, director of operations, and Lori Morton, V.P. Of operations to no avail. I even formed a resident/family council. We called for town hall meetings and were met with resistance. They have no security measures in place, employees are having fist fights during shifts, they’re grossly understaffed and just recently the fire alarms went off and when I arrived, all the residents were outside, except my dad. I didn’t know if the building was on fire and ran straight in and got him outside on my own. Dad repeatedly received either the wrong medications or medications were missing. I ended up calling state to report these issues and after they came and did an investigation, my dad was evicted with a 5 day notice to vacate. We got the state involved along with the ombudsman, but, decided we’d be happier somewhere else that actually cares. Whatever you do, do not send anyone you love here! I’d like to add that I called the number below from legends asking me to contact them and left a message yesterday and left another message today and no one has called me.

My grandpa lived at Arbor House for 2.5 years. Unfortunately, after Legends took over, the quality of care, the standards for staff, and the safety and overall well-being of the residents suffered severely. With Arbor House under the management of director Cara Northcutt and her supervisor, Christy Gilmore, proficient leadership lacked at the expense of the residents and their families. When issues were brought to management, whether that be privately, or publicly during town hall meetings, they were dismissed repeatedly. There was truly no shame to the level of mental gymnastics it took to disregard or rationalize the consistent inadequacies. Some residents would be forgotten in their rooms during meal time, many times there was no cook at meal time anyway. Emergency buttons went unanswered for a seriously terrifying amount of time, and medications were late, wrong, or missed altogether. I could go on. After my family advocated on behalf of my grandpa and the other residents, he was met with a 5-day eviction notice. My grandpa is a well-loved, soft-spoken, 91-year-old veteran. He, himself, was never notified by Cara, or by Christy of the eviction. Although sad to know he was forced to leave the familiarity of what had been his home this past 2.5 years and the friends he made during that time, I could not be more thrilled that he is somewhere that values and respects his life and well-being. I can't recommend enough that you find just about anywhere else to bring your loved one.

My grandfather lived at Arbor House for two years, but after Legend Senior Living took over, morale among residents and employees declined significantly. Unfortunately, my grandfather missed vital medications, which led to hospitalization and resulted in a permanent loss of mobility. My family, along with many others who had loved ones at Arbor House, reached out to the director, Cara Northcutt, about our concerns. As the issues worsened, we followed the chain of command and contacted the director of operations and the vice president of operations multiple times. We were all desperate for our family members to receive the quality care they deserved. After contacting the state for assistance, a representative was sent to speak with residents and their families regarding the issues we were experiencing. Days later, my 91-year-old grandfather was served with a five-day eviction notice. Cara Northcutt did not speak with my grandfather or inform him that he needed to leave his apartment. It seemed she found it too cruel to have that conversation. Instead, she had her supervisor, Christy Gilmore, deliver the news to my mom only. On move-out day, Cara Northcutt remained in her office, watching from her window and avoiding contact altogether. My grandfather was sad to leave his home and the friends he had made there. He was well-liked and had formed close relationships with the other residents. On a positive note, he is now somewhere where he is thriving! His eviction turned out to be a blessing in disguise. If you are considering assisted living facilities for your loved one, please pay attention to the details. Does the director greet you when you walk in? Are they present during working hours? Are they compassionate and kind, displaying a genuine heart for this work? Our families deserve someone who truly cares.

We had a wonderful experience with Arbor House and our Dad staying there for the last 16 months of his life. They provided excellent care, a loving, warm facility and a wonderful and friendly staff. We so appreciated his time there going from assisted living and eventually to memory care and the way he was cared for and loved.

My parents were at Arbor House since 2013. My Father was only there for less than 6 months before he passed away. My Mother just followed him in Feb. of 2016. I highly recommend looking into Arbor House if you are considering assisted living. This is a smaller facility and the staff working there is wonderful. I made sure to go back for a few hugs after my Mom's funeral. Aging can be tough but having someone who cares helps. Thank you Shay and Sue and all the staff who take care of our parents daily when we cannot do the job. One last thing...no matter where your parents live remember to communicate with them and their caregivers. Always get the true picture to the best of your ability.
