My mother's previous 3 years of one-on-one care made the decision to make the move to Encore unnerving to say the least. Encore's expertise meeting my mother "where she is at in her journey" has been pivotal in my mother's appreciation of her new home at Encore. We have been so happy with the care my mom is receiving at Encore. It was a difficult and long decision process to move her out of her home, but Encore has exceeded our expectations in every way. Eileen, Kate, and Cynthia made the transition so much easier than we expected. They were warm and gracious and made my mom feel welcome and at home from the very first day. Every caretaker and nurse has been friendly and conscientious, both with meds, etc. as well as daily assistance with the numerous tasks of living with dementia. There is so much care evident in how the residents are treated as well as getting to know them as people. Staff are always available for questions and communicate with the family when there are updates, or even just observations that family would want to know. Staff is highly trained to redirect and effectively respond to issues that arise with memory care and dementia patients. It is evident that the whole staff works together and steps in to keep things running smoothly. They are a special team of people. I can not speak highly enough about the activities that take place throughout the day, Sherri is truly amazing and has a gift of conversing with the residents in a personal way that makes it feel like a family gathering, rather than a preplanned activity session. She not only makes it creative, fun and interesting, but knows how to connect with the residents and makes relevant ties to their younger lives. This really brings a warmth and personal environment to those no longer living in their own homes. She brings out the spark in people that have been living with memory diseases for years. My mom is rarely in her room, instead opting to hang out in common areas, whether she is actively participating or just observing. The facility is wonderfully cleaned and maintained - it does not have any odors like industrial kitchen, cleansers, or stale “nursing-home” type smells. The sitting areas are comfortable and welcoming with many options to gather with residents, do activities, or smaller, more intimate spaces. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, but honestly, my mom is rarely in the room, as there are always group gatherings to keep her interested and engaged. A huge thank you to all the wonderful, hardworking, and caring staff at Encore who do this incredibly difficult job with grace and warmth!

My wife has been at Encore Memory Care at South Barrington for about two months and the experience has been very positive so far. They have been welcoming and responsive to my questions and requests. The office and medical staff (nurses and CNAs) are knowledgeable and care about the residents. The facility is the proper size to maintain a homelike feeling.

My FIL has been at Encore and the family is so impress on how they stay up on medical and his needs to make his time there enjoyable. The activities are impressive and people seem to enjoy very much. There is plenty of staff to accommodate the needs of each level of care. They have plenty of outside area for them to sit and they are always checking on everyone. The food is wonderful. The rooms and facility is very well kept and clean, you can ask any of the staff questions and they are so helpful we understand the process he is going through... Thank you Encore for helping ease our stress of knowing he is in a wonderful facility.. they even have a sports room for those who enjoy there favorite team to watch...
