I can not in good conscience recommend The Rivers. My mother has been a resident in the Memory Care unit there for over a year and a half. In that time, there have been five Executive Directors and a nearly complete turnover in direct care staff. While the care staff genuinely do seem to care about my mom, there is a frequent lack of resident supervision; I have found my mother in other residents rooms on several occasions, many of her possessions have gone missing - whether lost by her or "gathered" by other residents who truly don't know better. And my biggest frustration is that the management simply cannot figure out a way that I can call the facility and get my mother on the phone - whether the direct line goes unanswered or is assigned to someone not on the memory care unit, or I'm asked to call back or that my call simply does not get returned, time and again. If I did not think it would further damage my mother's already frail sense of reality and greatly disrupt the small sense of stability that she does have, I would have moved her to another facility months ago. I do not understand the difficulty of solving these problems and while the various Executive Directors have been receptive to my feedback and accepted responsibility and assured me that change is underway, I simply have not seen any substantive changes. On a positive note, the facility is updated and generally clean, the rates are on par with the area and they have do have enrichment programs for memory care residents to engage with. I wish I could be more positive, but I've lost confidence in this facility and by proxy and Bickford facility.

The Rivers has been a gift for my mother and her husband. One is in the Memory Care unit and the other is in the Assisted Living unit. The Rivers has made it possible for them to spend their days together and the staff managers, nurses, and aides have been kind in caring for my mother. Cassandra, the Memory Care manager, has been especially wonderful; it always makes me happy to see her when I visit and she is very responsive when I call with a question or concern.

I visited Rivers at Maryland Farms a couple of weeks ago and I must say I was so impressed. It’s such a beautiful place, and everyone seems so friendly and caring. The director, Stacy, answered all of my questions and talked with me about all of the renovations that have been going on. I was impressed that she took the time with me that she did. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a beautiful, caring place for their parent to call home…❤️

After much research, my wife and I decided on The Rivers five months ago. Initially, my mother was hesitant. I am happy to say it only took a week for her to become acclimated . She has mentioned the activities, which are in abundance; there seems to be something going on anytime of day. She loves the girls card games after dinner! The facility is very professional and caring. The woman in charge, Stacey, seems to take an interest in everyone, which is very personalized. I had dinner one evening with my mother, and the food was amazing; I spoke with Chef Mark, the dining director, and he let me tour the kitchen with him. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. She absolutely loves the menus!

My mother in law is in memory care. She doesn’t know the family and she sleeps a lot. The caregivers are very patient with her and they are friendly to us also. We have seen the caregivers in action when Clementine has been hateful and demanding and they are so good with her. I am glad she has that level of care
