DISCOVERY VILLAGE FARMINGTON

I couldn’t believe the cleanliness level; there were dirty glasses (with food particles still on it), dirty plates, and the servers barely ever came to me but used vulgar language and gossiped in the corner. The women at the front desk didn’t even greet me!

Went from a four star under Brookdale to a 2 star Discovery Village. Unfortunately this place is going in the wrong direction ! The facility itself is a lovely lakeside setting, the apartments are spacious but the food is unmistakably the first cut! Brookdale provided an extended good quality menu with at least three new choices nightly as well as at least two choices of freshly prepared vegetables. The choices are the same with one special each night but the rest of the menu is the same. There is a hotdog choice every night if you can believe that!! Barf! Also several sandwiches and cold salads. Not very appealing or healthy…there used to be at least three hot choices of a meat chicken or fish.. also staff is starting to leave.. that speaks for itself! I’m hoping that these are just kinks. They’re going to be resolved, but I would hold off if you’re considering discovery Village for your loved one.!

Brookdale Gables Farmington, After realizing that my mom could no longer live alone safely I researched many independent and assisted living communities and after the visits and all the question we chose Brookdale Gables in Farmington. I found that the key thing was that during a visit, I kept asking myself does mom fit in here? She was welcomed in by the staff during our initial visit and now as a resident invited by other residents to join in daily activities and it has really filled the social void that she had since her driving had stopped and was no longer visiting her senior centers. I have often stated to her that it's like living at a senior center! Beautiful grounds, great food, friendly staff and very caring management that have always answered our every question and concern. It's a very confusing path when faced with finding your parent a new home contact and set up a visit Brookdale Gables Farmington and see the best value in elderly living communities in Connecticut.
