If you love being surrounded by homeless encampments, this is the community for you! Attempted to stop in for a tour and was screamed at by a homeless person for trying to pull into the community. There was a makeshift tent settlement right outside the building. Its in the absolute worst area of Albuquerque.

Ray and Anthony were amazing. They helped us build and set up our new furniture and have been helpful in every way making our move in as painless and smooth as possible. And of course Renee is amazing. Thanks to everyone at Brookdale. The staff are awesome.

My grandma lives here and the quality has drastically changed in the past year- which is reflected by other google reviews. I never write reviews, but my grandma deserves so much better than this. They recently changed their kitchen staff/management and since then the food has smelled spoiled, been too overcooked for the residents to chew, causing diarrhea, and now visitors are asked to pay $20 if they want to dine with their family members. This is really horrible considering many of the residents do not have access to other food, so they have to eat what they are given even if it causes severe digestive issues. The morale is so low now residents are feeling suicidal, I don’t even know what to say about that. On top of all of this, in the 3 years my grandma has been here her rent has been raised $800 while quality is actively decreasing. Not to mention the massive flooding this past fall that displaced a whole hall of residents. Brookdale’s director is impossible to reach even though we have been trying to arrange for a meeting with her to discuss the severe drop in care and quality. I would think twice about putting your beloved family members here until something changes. It really did used to be so much better.

My mother moved into Brookdale Valencia in July 2022, and we are thoroughly satisfied with our experience. There are so many positive aspects of this community that I am reviewing them individually: Facility: The Brookdale Valencia facility is clean, very well maintained, and has a host of amenities. It's got an activity room, a pool table, a theater room, and a variety of lobbies for gathering. Folks use these amenities a lot! There's always something going on, keeping people active and building a sense of community. Activities: Every single day there is a schedule of activities. These range from simple get-togethers to card games to mild exercise classes. I really didn't expect my mother to enjoy these as much as she did, as she's a very shy person. However, with a little encouragement she's started to regularly go to them, and she says she has a LOT of fun. Part of the success of these activities is in the enthusiasm of the staff, and part of it is how kind and enjoyable the other residents are. Food: The food has been the most surprisingly excellent part of Brookdale. I really didn't expect the food at a senior living community to be as good as it is here. My mom is from the deep south and has a meticulous taste for comfort food, and she constantly extolls the quality of the food at Brookdale. There are multiple options per meal, and they provide truly delicious desserts. The kitchen staff are extraordinarily dedicated and hard-working, and really get to know the residents. Management: The management at Brookdale really keeps the whole place together and running smoothly. The executive director, Meghan, truly cares deeply about all of the residents and their families. I routinely see her around, greeting people, answering questions, and tackling issues. Any any time we have needed help on something, she is extremely quick to respond with a solution. I would wholeheartedly recommend Brookdale Valencia. When my mom first moved in, I visited her every day to keep an eye on things and make sure she's treated right. After a few months, I can confidently say that Brookdale looks after the residents. There is an immense peace of mind knowing that my mother is well looked after physically, mentally, and emotionally in this community.

Brookdale Valencia has been a wonderful experience for my elderly parents. I could not say enough good things about this place, the staff has been a pleasure to work with, maintenance is always on top of their stuff and making sure the building is running as efficient as possible. When my parents call to have something fixed they are there within 24 hours unless its an emergency then they are there right away. Other residents seem to be happy around there as well and the ones that I have talked to while I'm there talking with my parents. I would recommend Brookdale to other families looking for a facility for their loved ones, who still want their independence but just need a little help with everyday life.
