I am a physician and can recommend Brookdale West County wholeheartedly for its memory care division. I am very pleased with the nursing attentiveness for all three shifts, the housekeeping staff is likewise stellar as well as the maintenance staff. The Executive Director and Director of Nursing command service excellence and consistent quality. The maintenance department is extremely responsive to minor issues and are always there with a friendly smile and demeanor. The activities director is very patient, encouraging, creative and similarly, a consistent smile on her face. Oh, I can not forget the quality of nutritious food and the flavors! Director of Dining always onsite everyday as well. The nursing staff are very capable at multi tasking, (dispensing meds, toileting, bathing, feeding, conversationalists, etc) they do it all. They have such a demanding profession, yet they go to work everyday pleasant, proficient and performing above the standard bar. Elaine Allgood, MD

I wouldn’t recommend Brookdale to be honest. We put our loved one in the Assisted Living side at the end of last year and since we have been there the DON has been unresponsive, not cooperative, rude, even to our loved one’s physicians. One of the physicians nurses informed us she’s never been spoken to as bad as the DON has spoken to her. There are pros and cons of Brookdale, but we believe the cons definitely outweigh the pros and if we had to do it over we wouldn’t have chosen Brookdale.

My parents moved into Brookdale West County about a year ago. It is a beautiful community with great outside areas for them to use. Since they moved in they have made wonderful friends with the other residents, as well as the staff. The care team is so loving and caring to my parents. They have every desire met by this team of fabulous caregivers. I couldn't ask for a better community for them to live!

Things did not work out well for our Mom at Brookdale West County. After a week at this facility, she is now back in her house with her son and brother to see to her immediate needs. It would have been great to keep her close to home, but the situation was so bad here that future plans involve taking her out of town to be sure that she is getting appropriate care. For anyone looking into Dementia care in West County St Louis, we DO NOT recommend Brookdale. We were with her there most of the time during the week she was there, and staff was inadequate and possibly abusive. Activities involving these residents were minimal, and inappropriate. The place is in the middle of administrative transition, and no one was enforcing policies. Residents were suffering as a result. The facility is beautiful, but don't let that fool you. In the end, it is about the staff and the care they do (or in this case do not) provide for your loved one.

My father has been a resident since June 2016. We have been very satisfied with the care he has received. Dealing with dementia has been very emotional and everyone at Brookdale has really put my family at ease. They are very respectful and make all of their guests feel at home. Very clean and the dining room has excellent food. Very many activities for everyone to participate. I would highly recommend Brookdale for your family member. In addition, I have truly enjoyed everyone who works there and I have met some very nice residents. Sarah B. St. Louis, MO
