Cedarhurst is a beautiful building let me say that. There are alot of things that needs improvement. Let me start by saying I’m not sure if they are short housekeepers but the washrooms on the main level are horrible. It’s smells like urine every time I visit 2/3 out the week. I have only seen one housekeeper. Serving times for my aunts is always an issue. They wait long periods of time for their food. The aides always seem busy and they are short staffed. My aunts barely gets their showers. When I call and complain. It’s always a follow up that it will get done. If you are paying over $5000 to stay here and paying for each individual need. Why is it not getting done? Laundry is a big issue. They have a pm supervisor Adrian or Audrey something who seems to have an attitude when approached and smells like weed. I have seen the aides and pm supervisor smoking weed in the parking lot. How is this allowed to be able to come to work and care for seniors under the influence and to take your break and come back in to care for residents. I have mention it to management that I caught staff outside smoking weed and of course they are still employed. Staff is on their phones and cursing while on shift. They should use their phone on breaks. Understand if you have supervisors but please make sure they are licensed so they can be held accountable. Brenda the aide is lovely. They need more like her. Precious is a sweetheart as well. It’s amazing a beautiful building has so many issues. Management is keeping the staff due to high turnover I see. Staff walks around in leggings or stretch pants. Completely out of uniform. You don’t know who the aides are or if they are visitors. There is an aide who works in the kitchen and on the floor who always looks high and smells like weed. She is very nice but always seems to be under the influence. Are you guys allowing staff to work under the influence? I seen an aide use a vape pen in the hallway. Is that allowed? I have came there overnights in the last few weeks and staff is sleeping. How are they watching our love ones if they are sleep? Where is upper hand management over this building? There is no night nurse so if the residents are in pain they have to suffer. They say she works 2 days. They have aides as supervisors and the ones in charge don’t have no license. They are like caretakers so they have no license or anything so if they neglect or sleep through their shifts it’s no consequences. I have 2 aunts who were placed here and not by me. I’m not trying to get anyone fired but this place needs to do better by our seniors. They are here for a reason. Memory care unit the staff sleep around 1-2am. I have walked in and walked out. The first floor staff sleep at the desk. Carolyn Fulton is excellent. She has been super helpful. Ellen the manager for memory care always states things will improve and they haven’t. I reported to the nurses about the what I see and nothing happens. My aunts are not dressed on time for breakfast. Due to probably being understaffed. I called one night at 10:05 asking to speak to the nurse and the nurse is gone for the night but when I was there the nurse said she was there til 1030pm. So now the nurses are able to leave before the shift ends. Please a nurse to be in charge of the building at night. It’s a safety issue for you too only have a caretaker that you call a manager who doesn’t have a license to Medicate our seniors. If they needs medicine who is giving them medicine or they have to wait til morning. Please do better by our seniors and for our love ones. Please get adequate staffing for kitchen and the floors. And please someone from corporate needs to have a conversation with Elle the memory care manager. She is not polite at all. She says what you want to hear and goes on her way. I overheard her speaking to the aides and it’s amazing her tone and words she uses that she is still the manager overall. Clearly Cedarhurst really needs whoever is there. And Elle knows this that’s why she is able to operate and move how she does.

I am beyond proud of the care she provides and would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.

My family was evaluating Cedarhurst for potential residency of one of my parents. We found the staff were very knowledgeable and conscientious. The cleanliness of the facility and apartments was impressive. I liked that there were activities available to engage the residents too. Unfortunately, my parent passed, but it was good to know facilities like Cedarhurst are available.

The reality of the Cedarhurst of Naperville experience is that the building is beautiful, the apartments are great, but the nursing care and resident care assistants leave a lot to be desired. There are definitely great employees, but most of the time they don't stay because of being overworked and poor management so it's a revolving door. Don't be fooled by the beautiful building as this facility just does not have the care staff to take appropriate care of the residents. I have two loved ones currently living at this facility. My mom and my father-in-law. Both have different sets of needs and they have been living there for 3 months. The care needs that they do have in common are that they both pay for the "hands on" care package. This package includes moving them from place to place within the facility, walking with them or pushing wheelchairs to and from, and also bathroom assistance (amongst other things). The reality of the situation is that my loved ones are often forgotten about and their call lights not answered for 25 minutes to up to almost 2 hours. The dining experience is less than stellar. All residents wait for long periods of time to have their orders taken and food delivered to them. Again, there are some great dining employees but most of the time, my loved ones experiences in the dining room are not great. Food preparation is very inconsistent. There are supply issues where often times our loved ones are being told that they ran out of potatoes, milk, eggs, ice cream (I mean, what?). If our loved ones go down for dinner around 6pm, they are told they can't have fries because they fryer was turned off. All of these things are unacceptable. Both my husband and I are constantly on the phone with our loved ones, talking them through situations, or calling the main line of the facility to get help to them. Be very cautious about selecting this facility if your loved one needs a higher level of day to day help (and why wouldn't they, they are moving into assisted living FOR help). We are constantly having to speak with management about the poor care and call lights not being answered. In the 3 months our loved ones have been there, nothing has really changed. Why do we keep our loved ones there? Moving an elderly person is extremely difficult in the best of circumstances. Moving both our parents to Cedarhurst of Naperville was very, very hard. Talking to our parents about moving again is very difficult as they do not want to go to another new place and start this whole process over again. We are trying to get them to move, but it's a difficult conversation but we are continuing to have it. What do we find good about the facility? My mom has established a community of friends. She loves most of the activities that are offered. She feels safe living there and knowing I'm not far when she needs me. My father-in-law feels comfortable in his apartment and he feels safe as well knowing that my husband isn't far away. They are both nervous at the constant new faces all throughout the facility. The staff, from the management to the resident care assistants to the dining staff, is a revolving door, which is sad. For the activities and comfortable apartments, we give 3.5 - 4 stars. For dining, 2.5 stars. For nursing - we give a 3.5 stars. The nurses are nice and empathetic but honestly, it's hard to talk to them as they mostly seem frantic as they have so many residents to care for. For the resident assistants and cna's, we give 2 stars as they just cannot answer call lights in a reasonable amount of time (how would you like sitting on the toilet for 25+ minutes waiting for someone to help you?). Truly, keep in mind that when you tour this facility, you will find everything is beautiful but keep at the front of your mind that the care staff is not there to support your loved one, even when the Director of Nursing says they are. It has not been the case with both our loved ones.

I am so impressed by such a nurturing & pleasant staff. Starting from the Director of Sales to Nursing personnel to Kitchen employees...EVERY one of them has been helpful, informative & friendly. My mom always says how nice everyone is to her, they all know her name. Acknowledging her makes her feel special & happy. Her 2rm apartment is very clean, bright & larger than we expected. Dining area is cozy, home-like feeling & food is delicious. We order meals as one would in a restaurant. An extremely welcoming facility, feel it the moment you walk into the vast lobby. Piano, fireplace, couches...nice warm touch. CareMerge App is great, we know all the activities mom participates. She sure enjoys the daily "Social Hour." I highly recommend Cedarhurst of Naperville.
