What you think of a place like colonial house depends on what your needs are. My dads needs are what I would consider special. He is fairly able of body and very slightly able of mind after loosing a battle with alcoholism. I am writing this review for all of the other daughters out there trying to figure out the least restrictive place they can put their loved ones who can't safely be at home, but aren't ready for more restrictive care. I am super happy with the medication route that dad is on and the relationships with the staff seem to be good. I like that there are so many people of varying needs that live here so the company is good. My dad can sit outside on the patio and have a conversation and smoke a cigarette whenever he wants and with everything that has happened... those are great things for him to still be able to do. If my dad gets to a point where he needs MORE than what Colonial House can give him, it will be a sad day because it means that his quality of life is declining. Is it a super fancy place with tons of bells and whistles? No. But for people new to the 'can't quite do it alone anymore' lifestyle who still need to be able to have their cigarettes and freedom, I am happy with it. And frankly its a hell of a lot better than what he was doing for himself the last several years.
