The Arbors has taken a complete nosedive in almost every aspect since we moved in last July from the food, staff, laundry and cleanliness. Multiple times a week the food had become cold sandwiches, gloppy, runny chicken salad, and chips on paper plates for meals despite a menu they will lure you in with. The staff’s clothing had become unprofessional and sloppy with cartoon hoodies and sweats and no name tags. Manners and social graces are sorely lacking. All Dad’s laundry was done together resulting in discolored, dingy whites and bleach stains on nice towels. I’d have to refold and rehang laundry as it was most often totally disorganized. I kept my own cleaning supplies and Swiffer as they did not clean under the bed, behind the toilet, or in corners. Often my Swiffer pad was disgusting. The staff would separate themselves from the residents during meals, many times with ear buds, their phones and take-out in the back of the dining room despite residents needing help cutting up their food or being encouraged to eat. For example, when the staff bothered, there were tiny containers of sealed butter that were hard to open, but no knives ever to spread it on a roll. Don’t let the activity calendar fool you. It looks good on paper, but implementation is almost non existent. There may be a sit and stretch activity here and there or hang man, but most of the time they are left to sit in front of a tv with something totally unrelateable on, such as a 2 1/2 hour Marvel Spider-Man movie or to wander around from room to room aimlessly. Getting staff to actually follow Dad’s care plan was a daily challenge resulting in numerous UTIs and huge fluctuations in his diabetes levels. The glassed in nurses station is a real issue. Often all 3 staff were enclosed in this area with NO ONE on the floor. I made suggestions that only 1 go in at a time, but no one followed that. I have walked in, found Dad outside, and zero staff for up to fifteen minutes either being in the closed kitchen, outside on a smoke break, or I have no idea. Yes, I complained. I am my Dad’s advocate. I was told things would be “investigated”. Then my Blazer got keyed in the parking lot. Since there are no outside cameras, there was no proof. Steer clear. Since we have moved, it has only become more apparent how awful this facility has become.

We visited with Lisa Coday at Colony Pointe recently. We saw and heard the compassion and competence in her time with us introducing both Colony Pointe and the Arbors as we consider future living arrangements for a loved one. Jackie also showed us around and greeted residents and staff in a warm and upbeat way. It was a sunny warm morning and 6 or 8 of the residents were enjoying the morning sun on the beautiful back garden patio. Thanks to them both.

The staff at The Arbors did a great job. They worked with me when times were tough. Shout outs to Dan, Emily, Paige ...... I better stop because so many were so good. I can't help but mentioning Jennifer. At the very end of my wife's life - the last hours, Jennifer was so sweet and tender with her. Thank you so much. While it was not home, and it may have been a blank room, but it was quiet and peaceful with no machines beeping, and no staff or students running in and out. It was a gentle end to a great life.

Our family member has been staying at Colony Pointe since November 2017. Everyone in the facility is kind and compassionate when dealing with all the residents. They have great healthcare and activities. The folks constantly seek ways to keep residents active and involved. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. We are so grateful for finding such a wonderful place for our family member.

My 93 year old mother recently moved into The Arbors. She is more active, more alert, and happier than she has been in months. The caring staff works hard to plan activities and outings. The nursing staff is amazing and has helped beyond words with my mother’s medications and healthcare. We simply couldn’t be happier with The Arbors.
