My Mother lived for 10 1/2 years at El Castillo and recently passed away. She started in an independent living apartment. It was designed the way she wanted it. She loved it. Lots of sunshine, quiet neighbors and wonderful friends. I ate with my Mom weekly. She loved the food as I did also. The variety and excellence in cooking is admirable. The location is perfect for exploring the Plaza and Canyon road. When my Mom needed nursing this past fall they placed her in a nice nursing room and cared for her until she passed away. El Castillo is the premier Life Care Facility in New Mexico. I don’t understand all the negative stars without comments but I suspect they are not from Residents. The staff is friendly and professional. Nothing is perfect and things do need to be worked on but I felt the communication was good and issues were resolved. I highly recommend El Castillo.

My 87 y/o mother was given a 30 minute assessment from the nursing director for placement in Memory or Nursing Care. I told them we needed to place her soon and were shown available rooms. Over a week went by and no word back, even after calls to check. No excuse for awful business practices.

If you're an RN, don't work there. The residents are fine but the staff is horrible. Unsupportive. The registered nurses form cliques thereby deciding who they like

I love it here! We have trees, great food, and super residents. We have a big wellness center, a library, a deli, a bistro, and a really fine staff taking care of us! Location to warm your heart: downtown Santa Fe. The grounds are all you could ask for.

If you truly care for the elder in your family DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! Helen Langworthy, the assistant director of nursing, is one of the most conniving and sneakiest people I have ever met. You can feel the hostility and tension as soon as you walk into that building. It is not the place to be, never!
