Anyone considering Enchantment Assisted Living in Raton should read & re-read Carman's review before putting your loved one there. After several phone calls asking the same questions we made a trip to visit the facility. Seemed ok, but none of these places are great. Got good answers, like" sure we'll do everything for your spouse that you do at home." Not the case after all. They left him in bed till 10:30/11:00 which meant he missed breakfast which I found out by going at different times to check on him. One day they served the Same meal for lunch & dinner. The worker said that's what he was told to serve. His hair was not combed several times, he was not shaved & I had to ask them about it. The response was that I should want to do it to spend quality time with him! I said I'm paying YOU to do it. The bed had a plastic mattress & the sheets would not stay on. We had to constantly keep fixing it. His brand new pillow disappeared as did his comforter & they used their own old worn out stuff. He was left in his room in the dark most of the time. I told Ursula not to give him ANY medication without consulting me first! My husband lost 15 pounds in 2 months. After reading Carman's review, we went one day & gathered his belongings & rushed him out of that place. I got his medication bottles when I left. When I went to the local pharmacy to let them know he was no longer there, they had a prescription ready to pick up & when I asked what it was for, it was some kind of anxiety pills which they never consulted me about. They were going to give it to him behind my back!! Luckily we removed him from that horrible place not any too soon. That was about 14 months ago & they have never called to ask any questions as to why we took him. Ursula was not there that day, but she was supposed to be in charge. Another man who was in a wheelchair disappeared & we heard he fell & hit his head and died on the operating table. So Thank you Carman for your review which is why we rescued my husband & brought him home. We're sorry for what you had to go through with your mother. We actually saw her sitting at the table the day we visited & she did have nice blonde hair before you said they colored it brown & wacked it off. When we first took my husband there, you must have already taken your mom out which was within a week of our visit. Wish we'd seen your review sooner. Don't think you can trust ANY of these facilities. Hope our reviews keep some other families from choosing that one! They shouldn't even be in business, don't know who oversees them, but apparently no one. The owner should have questioned what happened to the resident & the monthly income after only 2 months!! Just sayin

I am beyond grateful to the staff for keeping my grandfather clean, safe and happy! Life has been very hard since my grandmother passed and we are blessed to know that he has a safe place. The staff is loving, funny and they care about the work that they do. We appreciate you more than you know!

We spoke to the manager, and She was so welcoming, so generous, and so caring that we got in the car to go meet her the same day. Walking into the facility it looked great, staff was above gracious, and the facility was emaculate. We happened to show up just before dinner time and the staff gave us a tour and prepared a small meal. Food in the care homes was a concern of ours, but let me tell you, it exceeded our expectations and we left not only with smiles on our face, but join in our hearts. My family is truly greatful for Enchanted Assistant Living and we want to give a huge thank you to the team at this care facility, Thank You so so much for making my mother's stay with your facility feel like a home, she still continues to ask about you. Thank You!

Careful ... in my opinion, this place is dangerous. First, the "review" done by Kimberly is a legitimate review. I knew her mother-in-law and she was a wonderful person. I believe they did have a good experience at Enchantment. The second review wasn't done by a resident or family member, it was actually done by the office manager of Enchantment ... Ursula. Now, about my experience. I placed my mother 85 yr. old mother with moderately severe Alzheimer's in Enchantment four months ago. It started out as a good experience. In the end, the State Ombudsman had to make an emergency trip down to the facility to facilitate an "emergency discharge" for me yesterday. They actually wouldn't let me in to see my own mother. Before the week was over, the police and sheriff's offices were called. I had to call lawyers. I felt like they placed my mentally-impaired mother and I into a horrible movie where you didn't know what was going on from day-to-day and the horrid experience was never going to end. I tried desperately to ignore or play-down what was happening at first, but they made it impossible. I just wanted my mom to be happy so I was willing to take as much abuse that was necessary to keep my mom safe. Having to move an Alzheimer's patient is devastating to them and I didn't want to be forced to put her through that experience again, however, when I was quickly rolling my Mom down the ramp yesterday, she asked me if she ever had to come back to Enchantment. I told her no. Seriously, I couldn't roll my mom out of that place fast enough. Ursula left me with the opinion that she felt that my mom was hers, and that she knew what was best for my mom when she didn't have the slightest grasp on reality. Ursula told me that she had a lot of experience working with patients/family that were afflicted with a memory-based disease, yet she expected my mom to be able to "remember." A few weeks ago, they hacked off my mom's hair without my consent. I am my mother's POA. When I went in with the Ombudsman yesterday, they had taken my mom's beautiful blond hair and colored it this horrible dark chestnut brown. They knowingly took advantage of the fact that my mom was not able to make an informed decision for herself. When my mom spoke to the ombudsman earlier this week, my mom told her that she was being forced to say things that she didn't want to say. I have been in business my entire life, but never have I experienced a business like this one. Ursula lied to me on a daily basis. After sharing my experience with others in the community, they shared the same concern. I often found my mom in urine-soaked underwear. They continued to feed her food that she did not like. No matter how many times I told them that she didn't like spicy foods, they kept feeding her food with a "spicy flare." I continually told them that my mom was more of a meats and potatoes kind of woman. I even started to buy her the basic foods that she liked because she just wouldn't eat what they fed her. I wouldn't have eaten most of the food from that facility and I love spicy foods. I loved the residents and got along with them great, however, everyone in the facility was walking on egg shells because of Ursula's need for absolute power. Staff told me how uncomfortable she was making them. That's all I can say on that subject. My mom's doctor (who did home calls) referred to the place as hostile ... twice. There is a "public information" report that you can receive on both the facility and staff members. There have been numerous new ones filed very recently. I would suggest that you get them before considering placement of any of your loved ones in Enchantment Assisted Living. Although I am not trying to exact revenge on Enchantment (I am thankful they are in the rear-view mirror), I do believe that it is my responsibility to share my experience, especially because the act of placing a loved one in any facility is a hard, and quite often emotional experience and we don't need more obstructions placed upon us during this difficult process.

My 98 year old Mother In Law benefits greatly from the very knowledgeable, gentle care and compassion provided by the Manager, Ursula Garcia, and the entire staff at Enchantment Assisted Living. We are so grateful for all they do for their residents. It is wonderful to be able to drive 10 minutes from our home and spend time with Mom. Thank you!
