Garden Place Waterloo

My mom was at Garden Place in Waterloo for quite a few years and the staff was always very attentive to her needs. Her room and the facility were always very clean. She said many times that she was so glad that she moved to Garden Place and that it really felt like home. My mom went on hospice a couple of months ago and words can’t describe how wonderful the staff was during that time. They were absolutely amazing!! I felt like it was the care they would have given their own mom in that same situation. In fact, one of the hospice nurses commented to me that this was one of the nicest facilities they had been to and that my mom was being very well cared for by the staff.

My very particular Mom was a resident. She had a beautiful apartment and garden that reflected her attention to detail and exquisite taste. I share those characteristics because she wouldn't have had such an amazing apartment and experience had it not been for an equally amazing and accommodating staff. After living for a year in a different residential facility where she witnessed one atrocity after another, we were skeptical. Our skepticism was very short lived. Garden Place Waterloo is clean and extremely well run. The staff cares and is willing to listen and make changes if necessary. They want their residents to live in "homes," not rooms; to feel a sense of belonging and safety; to feel heard and important. Additionally, I can't thank them enough for the love and care they showed both she and I during her illness and passing. They went beyond any care I could've imagined. We were truly blessed.

I rarely leave reviews for anything unless I truly feel like a spotlight needs put on it. My father in law had a stroke and needed some extra therapy and someone to look in on him several times a day until he could get stronger. We chose to do respite care at Garden Place Waterloo. Moving him in was a hard decision but we soon realized that it was one of the best decisions that we have ever made. From the moment you walk in it has a home feel with a splash of resort living. There is always something happening or a quiet place to sit and visit. EmpowerMe Wellness gave the most amazing therapy to him and made him stronger than before. I saw staff hugging residents, amazing smells from the kitchen and a friendly hello from every staff member that I passed. The building was clean and smelled fresh. The rooms are spacious and clean. It was comforting to see that Dad was loved and well taken care of. Leha made move in a breeze, and kept in contact with anything we needed to know between visits. I cannot think of any way that our time there could have been better. If you are looking for a place that you can trust with your loved one, Garden Place Waterloo is it.

Garden Place, Waterloo, has been a great experience since our first tour with Jessica, to meeting the directors, Leah and Barb. They and the amazing staff made my parent's transition effortless and comfortable. The staff have always treated them like new neighbors more than residents while offering exceptional care and even sitting down to enjoy a meal with them or bringing a peach cobbler for their birthday. As their health began to decline, everyone there just continued to offer more assistance as needed. If you are looking for an assisted living facility we cannot recommend Garden place more. The excellent food and daily scheduled activities are great for anyone, and if more assistance is needed, they offer the best care that can be imagined. Thank you Garden Place.

My parents have enjoyed living at Garden Place for over a year. I have seen firsthand how the staff invests in the residents' lives and cares for their needs, big and small. When my mom was on hospice and passed away in May, the staff was so supportive. My stepdad wanted to continue living at Garden Place because of the care and community. I'm beyond grateful.
