GLEN AT LAKE OCONEE VILLAGE, THE

Wow! I can't express how delightful The Glen and their staff has been to our family. They consistently answer all our questions and calm any concerns we have to the best of their ability. We love how welcomed they have made us feel and look forward to our visiting hours weekly. We recommend The Glen to anyone worried about long term care for their loved ones.

My mother was moved to The Glenn in 2022. She was previously at The Madison, where she was thriving. The Glenn was quite a bit more expensive. My mother was consistently overdrinking at the cocktail parties they had every afternoon. I even attended one of the cocktail parties, and they served her Jack Daniels on the rocks. When she finished the drink they asked her if she wanted another. She was on a lot of pain medication. She had a failed back surgery in 2017 which required the assisted living situation. She should never have been served so much alcohol in combination with her medications. She even fell out of bed one night after cocktails in September of 2023 after a Bulldawg tailgate party. She split her head open and had to go to the hospital. I did inform administration, but they did nothing. She went to the hospital in March of 2024 and was not allowed to return to The Glenn until bed soars that she had gotten were cleared up. She was consistently in the hospital under their care. In addition, they were allowing my convicted felon brother to work off his probation hours volunteering at The Glen. He was stealing my mother's money. I'm sure he would have had no problem stealing credit cards or any other items of value that vulnerable elderly people left unattended. I did send The Glenn his entire sentencing documentation along with his mug shot. They did not seem to care. And, when the money finally did run out, she died. While I'm sure, there are many that enjoy The Glenn's amenities and social gatherings, this is not the atmosphere my mother needed to protect her health and well being.

The experience with my wife at The Glen has been exceptional. The Glen was our first choice and I have no regrets. The admission coordinator was super helpful and always responded to questions and problems promptly. The care they provide my wife in the Manor is the quality I want my loved one to have. She is given more complete care than I could provide. I can see why this facility is rated the best around year after year.

My mother has been a resident at The Glen and specifically in The Manor for three years. She is loved and nurtured by the staff. She enjoys the music events…singing along with all the songs, games, gardening and the other residents! Colby, Theresa, Dottie, along with the techs keep the residents busy. They also are invested in the residents individual needs and stories. As the daughter of a Memory Care resident, I have developed friendships with other daughters of residents creating extended families with the same unique needs. I’m grateful for the support, amazing care and peace of mind The Glen gives me. Mom and I are a part of a very special family! Thank you to all the folks at The Glen!

I can't say enough about The Glen! My Mom moved in three weeks before COVID shut the world down in March of 2020. During her three years at The Glen the staff was INCREDIBLE, the facility was always clean and the food good and there was always activities if you wanted to participate. My Mom needed extra care her last six months and the nurses and staf were outstanding. When my Mom started aging I was never worried she wouldn't be taken care of. I would recommend The Glen to anyone who has parents ready for assisted living!
